I think I realised why my games aren't working.

PAL.

Do I need something special to make PAL games work?

nope, just post here your pc specs, ePSXe configuration and we will see if we be able to help you

some PAL games do have protections and require special ppf patches (or bothersome CD plugin options). Which games are you trying to run?
