Well what speed is you BIOS recognising it as?
If it's a 2600+, there's no need to worry. The SoA Semprons are simply repackaged Bartons

Throughbred's actually :p

but yeh basically what he said, semperons are simply repackaged Athlon processors, they are seen as the new "budget" chip.

There are Barton core Semprons also, i seen them. use a program called Cpu ID to get the info of your cpu. then go get the info of ur cpu to see what it suppose to run at.

A bios update, obtainable from the manufacture's website. A note of caution though, if an update is unsuccessful, it could mess up your mobo. As it most likely does not affect performance in any way (as others have mentioned), you might just want to ignore it.

Yeah, just seeing a name at boot up really isn't a bit deal, My mother board see my athlon 2700 as an "unknown 2700". at first it was really annoying but I've messed up my motherboard before and it's annoying...had to send the board back...but thankfully leadtek took care of it without any trouble, good company.
