Hey,

I'm pretty new to PS Emulation, so excuse my lack of knowledge in these areas.

Anyway, I made a ISO from my FFT disc, and tried running it with my PC using ePSXe. Whenever i choose the "Run ISO" command from File, i click the ISO file i made. Afterwards, it opens the game window, yet it stays black and never changes.

I searched around a bit on the forums using the Search command, and i didn't find too much insite on this.

Plugins Im using:
Video:pete's Open GL Driver 1.50
Sound:ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2
CD:ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2.
Bios:SCPH1001.bin

My system Specs are in my sig.

Like i said, i'm rather new to this, so if i left anything out or if there is any information you need to help me, let me know. :p

You might want to try some newer plugins, even pete's OGL2 v1.76. Or perhaps try a soft plugin as I've once heard that they might work even better with 2d graphics games, but that was a long time ago, so please don't quote me on this, for I'm just suggesting things :)
Also whenever I made an ISO (CCD format) I use Mooby's image reader plugin.

Edit: And you might also get yourself a newer sound plugin.

Well, i tried out all the Video puligins, gave me the same result. I managed to get to Pete's website and try out a few with those, and they all resulted in a black screen. None of them (including the soft ones) got past the black screen. Maybe its my hardware?

Are you trying to run the PAL version of the game? If so, you'll either have to use a PPF patch with the ISO or run the game off of the disc with either subchannel reading enabled, a PPF patch, or an SBI patch (use P.E.Op.S. CDR to make one). As for a sound plugin, I recommend Eternal 1.41 or the 1.50 beta.

expanding what hushy said, bad programs to make isos with include nero and clonecd.
the recommended programs for ISO making of PS discs are alcohol 120% and ISObuster.
If you haven't made your ISO with one of them, try downloading them and see if it works.

>> I can never remember which games weren't released in Europe .
Well, when we want Squaresoft stuff, we're limited to Final Fantasy...

CDRwin is a good way to make ISO too, you can set it to retry on reading error, which
can help a lot if your CD is badly scratched

whoa whoa whoa, while Nero does indeed suck, CloneCD is one of my favorites. in fact, it was my program of choice until Alcohol 120% came on the scene (and still, i use CCD images anyway). CloneCD is an excellent choice.

Hmm... I remember someone saying he made an image with clonecd and it didn't work (he later made it with a better program and all was solved).
Then again, my memory's kinda weak, so I might be wrong...

Ok, well i tried downloading a .zip of FFt. Inside, it had a .bin. I tried converting that into an ISO with UltraISO. I ran it through the emulator and it still gave me a black screen.

well, n_w gave him a warning... and besides, he seemed to create his own ISO to begin with.

have you tried seeing if the bios is rendered correctly (file->run bios), and seeing if any other games work?

That's why I didn't close it. If the whole thread started off with an illegal copy, yes I would have closed it. However, I felt that since it was something that happened later on, it could be corrected and the thread could continue on. I can see where hushy is coming from though and it was stupid of me to not think the same thing. Perhaps I'm losing my touch when it comes to moderating :(.
