Hello. I was using visual boy advance to play my roms and it saves games using .sav type files.

I recently got a palm pilot and a gameboy emulator for that, but it only saves (and reads) using .srm type files.

I want to be able to convert my .sav's to .srm's so I can continue my games on the palm.

Does anyone know how I can either convert these .sav files to .srm's? Or is their a way I can save in the visual boy advance as a .srm file? Could I load the .sav in another emulator and save in that emulator and .srm?

You need to figure out what a srm file has that's different from sav file. A sav file is just a binary dump of the save memory (EEPROM saves are a bit weird because of how I first implemented it). If you email me a srm file, I might be able to take a look, but no promises. Attach one to this thread.

You can attach files here. Just use the advanced post button and attach both a .sav and a .srm for the same game.

I think what you have to do is to trim the file size to 32768. That will remove the VBA extra information from the file and should be compatible with the other format.

Once you trim it down, just changing the extension should do it. You can verify if that will work if you do it the reverse way (copy a .srm to .sav and see VBA will load it correctly). No promises though
