i just wanted to make sure that my new pc is good enough for world of warcraft and rome total war with the best graphics, resolution and speed. please tell me if there is any thing i need to upgrade befor i buy the pc.
okey i am looking at an AMD 3500+ anthlon 64 with 512 RAM DDR and THE 6600 GT VIDEO CARD an msi motherboard with NO PCI-E yes the video card is AGP and a 939 socket as well. and a hard disk of 120 GB 8 buffer and 7200.
i will upgrade the ram to 1 GB later but is there any thing i need to upgrade because this pc will coast about 900$ so please if there is any thing that is either conservative or essential that i did not see please let me know.
and thank you

1gb of ram should help alot in Massive Multiplayer Online Games, but otherwise, your PC looks fine. The only thing thats not really top of the line is ur Video Card, but it should still work.
seems like ur set man! well depending how picky u are about ur sound, id say it wudnt be a bad idea to get an Audigy2 ZS (oem, as these are cheaper) with it.
Actually, if you want the best graphics settings, you need a better video card IMO.
You also need more RAM like viper stated. 1 gig minimum.
Also, note that you will still lag in certain areas of WoW. Specifically, the banks and auctions houses of Orgrimmar and Iron Forge and during raids with more than 20 people in them.
about the lag how can i fix it?
and i think that the 6600 GT will keep me going for at least three years i mean i dont see any games requiring any thing higher then a 128 video card!
dont you think?
i will get another set of ram hopefully, and thanks for your time.
one more thing will a connection of 128/128 ADSL be sufficient to play WOW comfortably?
The lag in main cities and on raids is serverside as well as clientside.

A 6600GT will run the game fine, but just don't expect to set the graphics to 16x12 with all the shaders and 8xAF.

I think WoW will be perfectly playable on that speed though.

Basically, if you don't mind running WoW at 12x10 or something close to that with about medium settings, the only thing I would change is the memory.

BTW, 46 Undead mage on Arthas :)
And with my current specs(except change the integrated graphics to 9600XT) I can get around 40-60 fps in relatively unpopulated areas and 10-20 in major cities, at a 10x7 resolution and low settings.

i cant play WOW with the 6600 GT on high graphics?
but i thought the game needed a 32 MB VGA card!
and what about the 128/128 DSL, is that good?
i AM an undead mage, too. scerab is the name, level 25. :thumb:
one more thing i am in a medium server does that effect the lag in any way?
You are going by the reccomended/minimum game requirements on the game box I am assuming :p
I think it is highly doubtlful that a 6600GT will pump out 30 fps on high settings and a high resolution.
Also, don't judge a video card's preformance based solely on the amount of memory it has!

Like I said, 128/128 should be fine for WoW.

The only good thing about being on a low/medium server now is avoiding queus and maybe a little less lag.
Make sure you have Vsync turned off. it will lock ur FPs at ur montiors refresh rate to stop tearing. that would hurt ur Fps also. and also try
