interesting how much is that processor by any chance. and what motherboard do you have. mines is Asrock and it supports amd phenom FX /phenom/athlon 64 FX/athlon 64 dou core/and basically phenom 2 X4,X3 processors. my boards pretty flexible.
does your board support untied overclocking its just a term for safer overclocking. Even tho are motherboards are different i can simply go into bio's and click on the cpu option tab and enable untied overclocking which is cpu,pcie,async. which means there in a fixed mode which means the frontside bus is untied during overclocking and it makes the overclock more stable and much more safer.
