How do I convert data from volume 1 of .hack//GU to volume 2?

I'm asking this because I beat the game and got "clear data" on my game, but when I pop in the Volume 2 disc and load up the emulator, it says there is no data to load from the first volume...

anyone have this problem?

When you start a new game it will ask if you want to load the data from the previous game.You can't see the saves from Vol.1 when you go to Load.
