I liked the Illumina sword from FF6 a lot. The Excalibur from FFT was also kind of neat, but it's too powerful for its own good. As for the best looking one? Er...I guess the Ultima sword.

The only Masamune available in FF7 is Sephiroth's weapon, which is too bad, since it is a legendary katana.

The only way to use the Masamune in FF7 is to use a gameshark code to allow you to use Sephiroth. Of course, that makes the game prone to crashing fairly often.

I don't think so. I believe it gives you the same one you control. I could be wrong, though, since I haven't used it.

FiReY: Square is doing an FF VII remake for PS2, actually. I'd suspect improved graphics are part of the to do list for the remakes of the PSX FFs, but who knows.

That's an interesting thought. Has there ever been a party RPG where the main character was a wizard, as opposed to a fighter character? I can't think of one (unless you count create your own party type deals).

Although they're definitely few and far between, I have seen a couple RPGs where the main character is female. However, they're still in the fighter mold. I'd say most of the reason most of the main characters are men is simply because of the intended audience (mostly young men).
