Graphics curruption in gt2

Hi all, managed to get gt2 working in psemu, but not epsxe even though i am using the same setting, what im finding is the game runs at the right speed the sound is cristal clear but all the gfx are messed up, the title screens are fine, but the actual game itself when racing is all messed up, the polys are all over the place, all the cars are black and look like blocks. any suggestions. im using pete`s opengl plugin version 1.52

I dont think that good ole PSEP can run GT2... try epsxe again, and fiddle with the main emu options (most likely some epsxe cd option is wrong)
epsxe wont even boot the game, if i try running the bios (scph7502) i get the sony logo, thats fine, if i try and boot from cd i get just a black screen, if i run from ISO i get the sony logo then nothing, i have tried all the cd option available, but none of them help epsxe, yet the game works fine in psxemu pro, apart from major graphical problems currupt images and polys all over the plave.

plugins that im using are

petes OpenGL 1.52 - only one that works in psxemu, dont know if it works in epsxe yet.

petes SPU 1.52 - works fine sound is crystal clear

petes CDR plugin - works fine detects CD-ROM all settings are fine.
Please, go to the config menu, then cdrom and enable "ACURATE CDROM TIMING", the game will run
Whoa !! ...So there are still people who use the old "tried 'n' true" PSemuPro !! ...seriously now, the problem with the textures being "all over the place" and the cars appearing black, is most probably an emulator problem, and since PSemuPro is not updated any more ....that leads you nowhere, really.

I've read your other post, where you say you used every plugin you have & that "accurate CDRom timing" made no diffirence. This is very strange since this option usually solves the "freeze after sony logo" problems...

Ok, just try GT2 with ePSXe one last time. This time make sure that you have enabled "accurate CDRom timing". Use Pete's Soft plugin for max. compatibility. Use the internal ePSXe sound core, then try Barret-Kazzuya's cd-rom plugin. Also try booting from the 2nd cd this time (since in the first one, an MDEC follows the Sony logo - I'm suggesting this 'cause it may be an MDEC-halting problem).
If you still get a black screen try pressing F4 once - it may also be a memory card problem. If the problem persists, just try once more the whole routine, but this time use TsgMSCD plugin for cd-rom.

If the "black screen of emulation freezing death" appears again, your only other options would be to turn to the commercial emulators, Bleem (use the latest 1.6 beta) or VGS. I have succesfully completed GT2 (PAL) at 100% without any problems whatsoever on VGS...

Uh? He had posted this earlier? Sorry for braggin' the acurate cdrom timming thing... :emb:
This might be serious. Like sights said, it can be a MDEC halting problem, in that case you can disable the mdecs with the command line switch -nomdecs in the epsxe shortcut (you have one on desktop, don't you :D) or in the Start->Run menu
Nope mdecs are the problem as im using cd2, i just downloaded the vgs demo but that doesn`t work as im using win2k. epsxe just wont access the cd drive at i`ve tried every single plugin and it wont access the drive, i then created an iso of the game and still had the same problems. so far the only emulator that has worked in psemu-pro but that has currupt graphics when playing the game.

So im kinda stuck two major freeware psx emulators that don`t work and the 2 commercial emulators dont run under win2k. vgs just said cant run this 16bit application. Here are my system specs if thats any help.

Athlon [email protected]
Geforce 2 GTS
512Mb ram
Windows 2000 SP2
DirectX 8.1 beta 3

Im only trying to get this damn thing working, but it looks like i could be sticking with my trusty playstation.
I have had the same problem with epsxe with gt2 .....but the game does run fine in vgs.......(but I like save states better then mem cards) ...and I haven't tested it with bleem yet........

and I tried the above things and nothing...makes it go pasted that 1999 screen...:(

Use the scph1001 BIOS, it worked for me, GT2 now runs like a dream in ePSXe
Got both BIOS`s and tried both of them but still no luck, all i get is a black screen nothing else, i also noticed that the cd-rom doesn`t even get accessed, i have tried all the cdr plugins that i have and non of them make a difference.

I`m using windows 2000 pro so vgs and bleem wont run any way.

Someone must have had gt2 running on win2k, if they have can u give me your settings. i`m desperate to see what its like at 1024*768
Right ok this is starting to get annoying just tried a load of other games and none of them work, i just get a black screen, nothing else is happening at all.

the games i have tried now are.

GT2 - disk 2 only
Wipeout 2097
SpiderMan
Tony Hawks
Tomb Raider Chronicles

non of them work at all in epsxe, all i get is a black screen. wipeout 2097 and tombraider work fine in psemu-pro no problems what so ever.
spider-man
both tony hawks
and all the tomb raider games run fine on my comp......

I only have a problem with gt2 the sim disc( I don't which is which):innocent:

the arcade cd I don't have I have to finish downloading it.....:D :innocent: :heh: :spy: :mg:
how did you get them working, and what config did u use, are u using win2k and epsxe 1.04
I didn't use win2k to play through the games but I did test them on my win2k machine...they work fine..... I have 3 comps here

course I use the lastest version of everything.....

ex. epsxe
OpenGL 1.52
etc.

bios 1000:D

My main computer = P3 600 WinME 128mb Geforce 2 MX 64mb
Second computer = atlon 1.2ghz Win2k 256mb Ati all -in- wonder 32mb (shitty video card)
Third computer = celeron 800mhz (overclocked) WinXP (final) 128mb Voodoo 3 16mb or is it 32mb?

as u can see me have lots to play with

You're using Win2k?

I found that when I'm using Win2k, since I do not have ForceASPI installed, I *have* to use the internal W2k Core CDROM plugin, nothing else. Note that there are 2 different internal CDROM plugin, one is especially for W2K I think. If that still doesn't work, go download ForceASPI.

Seems like the problems you're having with ePSXe now is the CDROM plugin.
Unfortunatly the win2k cd-plugin dont work either, so i downloaded the forceaspi yet non of the plugins work in epsxe, if i try psemu-pro then pete`s CDR plugin works fine no problems at all. To me it seems like epsxe just wont work full stop. what ever i do.
i am having no problem with running gt2 under win2k

something i just thought of since none of your games are working

did you set your cd-rom drive letter to the same drive that you are trying to run the game from?

this is especially critical when you have more than one drive

for example i have two cd-rom drives
drive D and drive E

in the cd-rom menu i pick drive D and then after you click the configure button, you have to pick which drive D is

i have accurate cd-rom timing checked and cdrom status unchecked

hope this helps

PS have you ever gotten epsxe to work?
See less See more
My cd-rom is E and its set to that, epsxe has never worked for me, my set-up isn`t exactly un-usual, win2k based athlon system. i get a black screen when booting from cd and i get the sony logo when using an iso. but the games never load. my cd-rom is good drive if not one of the best cdr drivers available, ricoh. i cant see why its not working. i wonder if the dev crew for epsxe have any suggestions.
