Hey, some of you may know,
my 300w PSU killed my 6800NU, but I RMAed it so I think I'll get another one soon.
BUT, it would be stupid to retry on this PSU... I found one for about 40-50$
it looks quite good, would you trust this one?

Never seen that brand before. I cant really tell you if its good or not, but I can reccomend some brands. My dad has an Antec TruControl. I think it has 440w. Its awesome! I'd say anything Antec really rocks. Theres also this brand on newegg called RoseWill that makes PSUs with high watts at low prices. I've never had experience with this brand, but the reviews at newegg hint to that it is good for its money. I was reading your thread before. I'm sorry to hear it killed the 6800 :(. Well, I guess we know what happens now when we use power supplys that have to low watts for high end graphics cards. A RoseWill I was looking at is 450w at 40$ on newegg. I'd check it out. Based on the specs in your sig, I'd say 450 is enough.

Also, not sure if 400w is enough, but, some RoseWill 400w PSUs on newegg are 25$. Damn good prices :)

Ok, I knew about Antec, but they're damn expensive, as for RoseWill, I've never heard of it, but if it's only sold on newegg, just forget it: I'm in France ;)

I heard that the amps on the 12v rail were important for gfx card, that 18A should be a minimum to look for nowadays. The LC has 24A, I know that unknown brands often put 550w stickers on 400w PSUs, but that is, even 400w is better than 300, the main thing
I wanted to know is: will it blow after 1 hour because of ****ty components? :p

I'm sure its sold other places than just newegg. Shopzilla.com is a great place to go for comparing prices. And yes, some places have better prices than newegg.

LC power is a good brand. For $40-50, it's a no-brainer. Pick it up. :)

Very good amperage on all of the rails, too.

Hushy: Rosewill as a whole doesn't suck. You just had what came in a fairly cheap case, a lowend PSU. Their higher-end standalone PSUs are actually quite good.

i would recommand going with either Anetc, Forton Source, Thermalt take, OCZ, Tagan serieis.

do not go with rosewell light PSUs are low quailty, you do not want a psu that look like there hardy any thing thats in it. them are the ones that tend to go bang and etc.

stay away from rosewell,E-power normal line of psu, Zalaman psus, Sky hawk, and powmax. there are others but i cant think of them atm.

Something told me they sucked at first glance, but I've never had experience with RoseWill. I sure as hell like Antec. In my computer, I'm using the 360 watt enlight that came with my dad's case. Works fine, never have any problems. Not to loud either.

Didnt you post a thread like this few months ago? Or was it somebody else... anyway.

Best bang for buck are Antec PSU. Their Truepower and Truepower II serie are great. Lots of cables, good silent cooling and atleast TP2 has separate molex cables for case Fans. It lets PSU control the speed of fans as heat rises and lowers.

Best PSU overall are probaply Enermax PSU. Costs more than Antec counter parts though.

Yeah, but I'm very low on budget, it's like 0€ atm and I'm jobless :s
I dont want the best stuff, I just want it good, working and preferably cheaper.
I'm not saying the cheapest either ;) That's why I asked about this one

I don't have 120 bucks dude, I just need stability, good power, good +12V rail, 4-6 moxel connectors... and eventually, a silent fan.

680w is more than needed, I'm not gonna put SLI cards anytime soon. I'm still stuck with AGP

Then antec is still number one choice. You can get Antec Solution Series Power Supply 400W for about 60$. I wouldnt trust anything cheaper, not easily atleast.

I checked the prices for them, it's like 60-80€ here (so something like 80-110$) :(

My bad, sorry for wrong information. :emb:

But still if you get PSU, its recommended to be good one cuz bad one... well... you have experienced some of its effects, and so have i.

Tried to look for cheaper and found Chieftec 400W for 65$. Totally unknown brand... oO

Yeah, I don't want a crap PSU either, if cooliscool says LC is a good brand and no one says the opposite, it's prolly cause it's not too bad. It's supposed to be 550w, but even if it's in reality it's only 100w less, it's already fine for a 6800 vanilla.

>> But still if you get PSU, its recommended to be good one cuz bad one... well... you have experienced some of its effects, and so have i.

Hell yeah, but believe me, if buying something over 50€ was an option, I'd do it...
let's say I have a 100€ budget, I'd rather buy a good PSU + a memory stick than
just an uber PSU that will be lots more than what I need/useless at the next upgrade.

Rosewill Light??? Mine weights in at least at 5lbs-7lbs
It is also not cheaply made...Me thinks you have rosewill confused with another brand...

You got a defective one then, or a really low budget version... I have a Rosewill RU450(AP-500X), stable as hell, extremely quite...Running 4 HD's, 1 CDR, 1 DVDR and a 6800OC, plus the MB, and all voltages are rock stable...IT was also not that cheap...I got a discount and paid $36 but they run $40 plus shipping...not the budget $20 you see on the really cheap supplies...

I have a question, if a 6800 Ultra requires more power than a 6800(my guess is it does, I think i'm right but when I think i'm right i'm usuallly wrong :)), wouldnt you need a more powerful PSU if you unlocked the extra pipelines and shaders on a 6800?
