Good DVR Programs?

666 Views 8 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  DB7
Do you guys know any good DVR programs, excluding WinDVR? WinDVR screwed up my computer royally and I had to use System Restore to fix my comp. Plus whenever I recorded the screen would go green where the video is being displayed. Windows Movie Maker is great but the display box is so small. I'm using the VIVO on a GeForce 6600GT (AGP Version).

DVR + Windows Program + Good = Non Existant

Your best bet would be to go with something like VirtualDub to capture the video, and then use another software like Adobe Premier to edit it.

When I capture with VirtualDub the video has such a low FPS. Even when I compress it.
I just got Mainconcept's PVR last week, and my tv card has never gotten as nice of a video capture than with this application. It has very fast MPEG2 encoding if your plan is to burn to dvd later. Features deinterlacing during watching live tv and also deinterlaces while capturing, making the picture MUCH smoother. I highly reccomend this to anyone.

aheadsoftware, is getting a little better

sonic mydvd, isnt too bad, if comes bundled with card, however i wouldnt waste money buying that.

i've tried a few others, however i am sticking with neros version, until can find something to replace it
Give SageTV a try. It's pretty cool since you can download a program guide and schedule recordings, even timeshift.
Personally I've alwyas gotten very good results from using NeroVision Express.
