So me and a couple of my buddies from work are planning to visit London next March-Aprilish. I need some suggestions on some places to check out. And for any of you UK'ers that play DDR some nice places to go to get my groove on lol :).

DDR? That infernal contraption is still alive? I thought they got bumped out by those Dance Mania machines, which are cheaper to maintain too. :D

Anyway, since I'm not familiar with the places there, I can only offer you my best wishes... that and a suggestion to visit the Queen, and frighten a mouse under her chair. :)

Good luck and have fun!

definately, london pretty much sucks, i suppose you could go and see the queen ;p oh erm, theres the sega arcade at leicester square (i think) which is 4 floors of arcade machines, that would keep you happy.

I've been there, what you should go and see depends on your taste of course. I spent much time in Sega World like some other members suggested if you like arcade machines that's really the place to go.. me and my friend even managed to get in on some of the highscore lists!

There are also the classic places like Madame Tussauds, the London Dungeons, Piccadilly Circus, I visited each... and it was fun but mostly because of the company :p

And the number one thing that you must DO! Go to a football game with (prefarably) Arsenal! The atmosphere on a english football game is one of the best in the wolrd ( only South Korea might have an even better atmosphere ) Even if you don't like sports ( which you probably don't ) It might be worth a visit anyway :p

Lastly a warning for the awful London smug... nowhere else in the world did breathing outside make me cough!

Oviously you've never been to New York city. It's way worse there than London.

I can personally vouch for the Piccadilly Circus arcade. I took a trip to the UK during my last summer vacation, and the Piccadilly arcade was the best arcade I'd ever seen in my life. Lot's of DDR and music games there too (the most I've ever seen in one place). Too bad they didn't have a Pop'n Music machine. I always wanted to try that game with a real arcade controller.

If that's not enough for you, visit www.ddruk.com for the location of pretty much every DDR machine win the whole UK. ;)

Acctually I have been to New York City as well, I didn't notice it at all there. Might be because I was there in winter though.

Maybe I'm just too old fashioned but... why are you recommending those kind of places?

When I am on a holiday the last thing I want to do is to touch anything computer related (I already use them 20 hours a day at home...), what I want to visit is the historical accomplishments humanity has done in a given place, and in London they take the name of going to see musseums and pieces of art that only exist there, admire the Big Ben etc.

I mean, I am far from being knowledgeable about London but I know the last thing I'd want to do is visiting an arcade... in fact that would be quite a sad thing to do for a holiday IMO...

then again after reading my own post maybe I'm really too old fashioned ><

The big ben is not much to see it's just a freaking clock.. I watched it for 5 minutes and left.

Futhermore you can't really compare Sega World with an Arcade it's a electronic entertainment center they have all kinds of high-tech stuff... including advanced 3d simulations, and attraction were you get to sit in cubes etc etc etc.

I agree that the computer is the least thing you want to use on your vacation though :) I stay away from them during vacation too. I can't understand those people who go on vacation and spend half the time there on the internet café hehehe.

Do bear in mind that all the other major cities of the UK are highly accessible from London!

So after you've exasperated the sights of London, you could head up to Manchester for a few days, nice city, nice sights, good food, phat place to get your shop on, amazing night life and really, an all round good egg.

I really do want to repercuss what was said about keeping your wallet safe though!

Happy travelling.
