I think most petitions are taken seriously, even online ones. I mean, when Arnold spearheaded the petition to remove CA governor Gray Davis, many people didn't take it seriously....and NOW look were he is. oO

Well, Walt Disney obviously has a star. And while he was a pure genius, he was also sexist and racist and hated by many who knew him. So why not honor the fictional characters who represent only good things and don't come with the baggage that most humans do?

I believe he does deserve a Star. If you think back, he pretty much paved the way for videogames back in Donkey Kong. Millions have played the games and is praised as the greatest character in videogames. And anyway if mario doesn't get it then who will?

OK, well that may sound shady, but that's politics: they have enough funds to pay people for that, and it's not like there are a bunch of people begging to get signatures for them for free.

My point was that some people didn't think that petition would amount to anything, but it turned out to be huge. I mean, some people are even talking about amending the constitution so Arnold can be President now, which is ridiculous. But it all started with a petition.

So just because this one is online and for Mario, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be taken seriously (ok, SEMI-seriously)...it could amount to nothing, but who knows?
