I've been in EBGames quite a bit these last few months. I like them a lot more than I did when I lived in NC. The employees are nicer at the one here, much better than GameStop. Not to mention their used game selection is somewaht better also. Which makes this a little dissapointing.

It will be interesting to say the least.

I searched to make sure this wasn't posted yet and didn't find anything, sorry if this is old news.

I think that's one of the issues that will be brought up at the FTC review. Like you said, there isn't many other places to go. There was this place called Hi-Tech Video Games back in NC, but they rip people off way worse than Gamestop or EB.

The only other alternative is to buy from the rental places, even though they can be as bad also. I remember seeing a used Devil May Cry 1 for $20 at the local Blockbuster, you can get a new one for that price. And yes, the one they were selling was also a Greatest Hits.

Hrmm, in Canada, the only thing that exists is EB, and a trickle of a gaming shop called Microplay. Well either way, maybe it will be a good change, and maybe it will be a bad change. We will wait and see, although I wish we had a local importer that takes care of import games from JP so that I do not have to keep ordering from Lik-Sang and paying the hefty customs charges :p

I've never liked EB. I dunno why, probably the poor service. I don't really have anything against Gamestop, but their prices are jacked up typically (unless you pre-order). I personally prefer to simply order online. Saves me time and money.

I prefer EBbecause they aren't as pricey as Gamestop. I just hope the local EB isn't shut down. We don't have any local Gamestops within 60 miles of where I live...

Where I live we have both a gamestop and an EB, they are both identical to me anyway, same prices, same service, same everything. I like to shop between the two, if one doesn't have what I'm looking for I look in the other. But now I pretty much don't go into either anymore because I started buying my games at half.com ,generally I have found the prices to be cheaper than bot GS and EB.

it wouldn't surprise me if they don't even bother changing the name in canada. and if they do, it'll take forever.

I've seen games in Erie, PA priced $5 more @ Gamestop than Electronic Boutique. The same mall, same games...

The local EBs aren't going to be shut down. They're just going to be Gamestops instead. That's the basic point of buying a company out. I don't really care about the company, just as long as the prices and service are good, in the end.

unless gamestop has different policies, we, as a consumer, won't be seeing any difference in the store except for label changes. the pre-owned price sticker will never be the same...
