I haven't seen any thread about this feature, but recently developers added "Widescreen hack" that allows Gamecube games to be played in 16:9. See video:

Looks very similar to the NullDC "Extra Geometry" feature, To that note, some things (Items, rings, enemies, etc) sometimes will not show up until they are within the native 4:3 aspect.

Still pretty neat though.
