Yesterday, I tried a few frame (fps) experiments on epsxe 1.2.0 and 1.0.1… I used Winning Eleven 2000 U-23 as an example…
First, I used Pete D3D 1.39 with all features off, Dynamic caching type, filtering: none, texture quality: don’t care, turned on fps limit (35) and frameskip, and turned on Unfiltered buffer updates. . When I tried to run it, it runs perfectly without a slowdown at all. Then I tried to use Pete D3D 1.4x (that includes 1.41, 1.43, 1.45, 1.48, and 1.49) with the same configuration mentioned, BUT I didn’t get the same results… The game has so many slowdowns especially when there are crowd (although the D3D 1.39 has a little slowdown too when it is crowded, but not as much D3D 1.4x). Anybody knows how to fix this?
Second try, I used Pete D3D 1.39 and I changed some of configurations, including: I didn’t use fps limit (auto frame skipping), still turned on frameskip, the results are: the game showed a great speed on the main menu, and pre-match menu…BUT when I tried to play it, the good speed only active when the ball goes to upside of the field but when the ball goes to downside of field, the emu goes very very slow even if there are only one player in the screen !!! I used D3D 1.4x but this time, I get the same result…..Anybody knows how to fix this?
Ow, I used RivaTNT 2 32 mb with 128 mb sdram
Next, I used Legend of Dragoon instead… When I used D3D plugins, the fps dropped to 14.** !!! but if I used OpenGL plugins, the fps is about normal (60-70) and the activate special fixes for Legend of Dragoon (Remove blue glitches) has no effect on the game
