All the games I've tried seem to drop in FPS periodically. In FF Tactics it works fine until you cast a spell, on Megaman X4 it doesn't even work at all. I've read the troubleshooting section as well as some threads on here to try and solve the problem myself, but obviously it still hasn't worked.

System specs:
Windows XP SP2
Intel quad core 2.4
Nvidia gtx 260
4gigs ram

I also have dl nHancer and set the opengl Multithreading off, which was suggested for another Nvidia user. I am using gpuPeteOpenGL2 for the GPU plugin, and the settings are:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce GTX 260/PCI/SSE2

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Window mode
- Internal X resolution: 2
- Internal Y resolution: 3
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off
- No render-to-texture: a

- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- TexWin pixel shader: on
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 2
- Framebuffer uploads: 2

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Mdec filter: on
- Screen filtering: on
- Shader effects: 1/1
- Flicker-fix border size: 0
- GF4/XP crash fix: on

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so Tactics is out, any suggestions on Megaman X4? Tried X5 also, works fine in the menus but once the game starts the FPS drop again. I'll try with more of my games to see if I get the same result.

to elaborate on what squall said in his post, generally its best if you use the software plugin for any 2d games.
