Before I start, let me just say that the game I'm trying to run is Unreal Championship II. I bought the game, but downloaded the ISO because I feel it's sinful to play first person shooters on a console...not to mention UC2 is probably one of the best FPS's i've played on a console and I want to run it on a PC....once again, because the PC has a keyboard.

Anyway...I got the contents of the UC2 game disc and have it fully extracted. Whenever I try emulating the default XBE, my computer reboots instantly.

Is this what typically happens with unsupported games or am I doing something wrong?

Specs: 2.1ghz Athlon 2600+, ATI Radeon 9800pro, Audigy LS, 1gb PC2100 ram, the rest shouldn't matter.

What ever happened to being entitled to digital backups if you own the media in the event that the media is destroyed?

I know it's weird. I dont get it either, but I have an Xecuter 3 so I can just dump my games to my PC.

EDIT: O, your computer is rebooting. Well let me tell you this. P2P apps and warez sites are full of all kinds of viruses and spyware. I'm not suprised that you'r experiencing things like this. What are your system specs?

  • BT is a P2P app.
  • Regardless of your ownership of the original game, it's still illegal to download it, and we have a no tolerance stance on piracy. As this was a genuine mistake on your part, I'll let it slide, but I must make clear: if you want to make a digital copy of your game, you have to make it yourself

P2P download yes, but it is the p2p decenteralized searching that causes viruses to be transmitted. When anyone can share a file with any name, that is anything thats where viruses come from. Also I sincerly doubt that someone has found a way to infect people computers using an xbox iso that people attempt to play in an emulator.

Most people who use P2P apps download more than one file.

Any one of those files could've been infected.

That is true...except what was downloaded was an iso indexed into multiple parts (20 I believe). If any of it was infected, then wouldn't it compromise the integrity of the archive?

he's talking about p2p in general, if you use p2p for one thing, then you'll probably download loads of crap some of which could be viruses, is his theory I believe. Of cource it is possible to avoid all (downloaded) viruses simply by not downloading exes, bats, coms, scrs and pifs (and in rare cases dlls, osx and spls, but that requires some hella social engineering), and your windows is updated and reasonably secured (wow I got off the topic).
