Looking good, together with the new ColumnsUI Beta it looks like we have almost total freedom in where to place different parts of the UI. Im still waiting for the final though, as none of the current plugins are compatible and an SDK isnt available yet.

Well even if the thread is a little old, and the release a little late, foobar v0.9 final has been released. You can check the changelog over here

Beware v0.8.3 users, most of your components will be broken by this new version, so you should head over the foobar forums to check the latest versions...

personally i can sorvive with UI_Columns, Album art, Track info, AMIP, and autoplaylist (well and some other minor ones...). Man how I love autoplaylist ^_^

Well, the first thing you should do is checking other people's formatting strings and see how it is done.... currently there aren't many places with v0.9 strings (most sites are for v0.8.3) But you can start checking the foobar forum's appearance thread, dl the conf files that are posted and checking them. You will need columns_ui though so you might want to get that first....

'Active', meh.. when would they realize that the nullsoft team is gone and AOL is all that remains lurking over their codebase. Good luck, winamp fans, you'll need it :p
Naw, everyone knows winamp team is gone. It'S the massive amount of plugins. Thats waht winamp is all about. plugins for everything.

I think it's simpler than that in fact. Everyone tends to use winamp because that's all they (used to) know about. Most people don't care for the tremendous repertory of plugins that winamp have, they just use it because of its easyness of use and because it is mainstream.

And, while foobar also has its plugin equivalent (components) it is something the computer illiterate will not want to use, because of its far more customizable, yet script based interface.

(This is also the reason why itunes is more or less popular. Albeit crappy, it is increadibly easy to use)

Yeah exactly, that's why I use winamp over foobar. The guy above somewhere said that it's easy to customize comparable to writing in word and then he goes to the extreme side and says it's also comparable to writing an html page.

I don't know how to write an html page and I doubt the everyday users knows as well.

Well not sure if I should start a new topic or just ask here, but what the pro's and con's of using foobar instead of winamp (is it comparable to Firefox(or Opera =p) Vs IE ?), I've been using winamp for a while now..I'm really please with it..is this really that good that I should change..

Let me guess.. you know html? Congrats.. here's a cookie.

Now for the rest of us in the world who don't know squat about it, this program isn't for us. A program in general who's basically for multimedia purposes shouldn't be that hard to configure.
