I have had non-stop problems with Flashget 1.6 blue screening the operating system, first I had problems with it on Vista and now Windows 7.

It usually happens with larger downloads, some of the download would complete and then Flashget would blue screen the operating system around a certain percentage.

I'm trying to download the Virtual XP mode for Windows 7, but Flashget keeps blue screening Windows 7 around 90% complete of the download.

I was having nothing but problems with Flashget blue screening Vista, however I continue to use it since it's the default download manager for the flashgot extension in Firefox and offers some useful features.

It's critical for me to queue large downloads in a download manager when possible due to the type of connection I have.

Has anyone else had this problem or know what it's caused by? If so, does anyone know how to fix it?

It's a blue screen, it goes away too fast for me to see what the crash is actually caused by, all I know is it happens every time I try to download files with Flashget 1.6, and usually happens when trying to download large files with Flashget.

Here's How:

1.

Click on Start and then Control Panel.

Tip: In a hurry? Type system in the search box after clicking Start. Choose System from the list of results and then skip to Step 4.
2.

Click on the System and Maintenance link.

Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply double-click on the System icon and proceed to Step 4.
3.

Click on the System link.
4.

In the task pane on the left, click the Advanced system settings link.
5.

Locate the Startup and Recovery area and click on the Settings button.
6.

In the Startup and Recovery window, locate and uncheck the check box next to Automatically restart.
7.

Click OK in the Startup and Recovery window.
8.

Click OK in the System Properties window.
9.

You can now close the System window.
10.

From now on, when a problem causes a BSOD or another major error that halts the system, the PC will not automatically reboot. Rebooting manually will be necessary.
Automatic Restart Vista - How To Disable the Automatic Restart on System Failure in Windows Vista

write the bsod info to a paper and post the info here.

I'm assuming that meant v1.9.6 -_-

Anyway, why not try something else?

DAP
Orbit Downloader
FDM
IDM

are all popular downloading managers/accelerators too

P.S. FlashGot does support DAP, I've been using it for a long time.

That's pretty strange indeed, I've been using Seven since Rv 7100 and no problems so far, now I use W7 7600 Retail and no problems at all. Probably is a hardware issue, RAM maybe?

Yeah I meant 1.9.6, I had just woke up when I typed that and overlooked the typo. My hardware is almost new so I ruled out any failures, besides nothing else gives me any problems except for Flashget.

even if its new it can still be defective, but it sounds like a ram problem, you should do dl and run memtest. I had random BSOD and corrupted data months ago and found out it was my ram, since memtest86 would freeze :p
