Sorry for the useless post, i usually dont do this but im so damn excited xD after 3 months with my TNT 2 i finally got my new gfx card xD i followed the advices of most ppl here and got an ASUS GF 6800 GT. Very nice looking card too. Im about to mount it on my PC. Just clearing some stuff up. Btw this thing has 2 power suply entraces. Anyone knows if thats really for 2 incoming cables or like 1 incoming and another out to use in other stuff? Just wanna make sure. The manual doesnt say anything about it :S

HELP MEEEE! I can't believe my PC is messed up again

Oops yes your right i meant 6800 GT :p

Anyway i feel so bad. ONCE AGAIN i'm having problems. I can't believe this. I can't ever have my PC well dammit. First it was my cpu that was bottlenecking my 9800xt. Then i got a p4 3.0 HT and my 9800xt fan stoped working. After 3 months of sending my 9800xt to be fixed i got a lausy refund and now that i bought this new card im getting problems again. I getting tons of graphical errors. Wierdes thing only windows has them. Games dont have them at all but they're running VERY slow. NFSU2 was running like at 30fps. I already tried formating my computer, after the format i installed new drivers and windows seemed ok but all games were having slowdowns. I tried 4 diferent games and all have similiar slowdowns, like they run awsome for 5 seconds, then i get 1 second slow down over and over. according to n1ghtw0lf it might be my PSU that only has 300W. but if that was it shouldn't the games show up all messed as well? Damn i dunno what to do. I dont have another computer to test my gfx card and i can't find out what is wrong.... ARGh ii feel soo damn desperate :(

The pic shows +/- how my windows is. Its not THAT messed up. When i pasted in to paint it got alot worst so its not that bad but i still have some of those errors in icons. One more wierd thing, if i connect to another computer trough remote control all the icons in the remote window show up right.

If anyone can help me to figure out what my problem is i would really apreciate it. Here's my current comp specs:

CPU: P4 Prescot 3.0 HT 1mb cache fsb 800
Memory: 1.5GB DDR333
MB: ASRock P4V88

Woo, we have the same mobo. :D

Anyway, I'd be willing to bet your PSU isn't up to snuff.. those 6800s suck alot of juice.

Maybe you should post the brand of your PSU along with the amp stuff.

Im getting a new one today. Is a 450W ok for it?

And these slow downs are really becouse off a weak PSU? i allways thought that it would work at all with weak power instead of slowdowns.

And whats wrong with my CPU? oO i thought a P4 3.0 HT was pretty good :S

Thanks for the info gays.

i think he means that the P4 is not helping with the power-consumption situation, since it also requires heavy power. A combination of a Pentium 4 Prescott at 3 ghz and a 6800GT that uses 2 molex connectors, 2 7200rpm Hds, not to mention the other stuff in your computer, certainly does not sound like a happy place to live for a 300W PSU.

btw...i am not gay.

No low power can cause many numerous problems on machines. From slow downs. To hangs to reboots.

Are you using the drivers that have come with the gfx card?
If yes try installing others than from Asus!
I had similar problems with an Asus V9950 Ultra!
The Asus Drivers only gave nothing than grafic errors from them try the official Nvidia drivers maybe this helps!

Sorry the picture is fixed now.

Yes i did install the VIA motherboard drivers. And i tried both the drivers that came with the card and the most recent ones from nvidia. Same thing. I can only fix the graphic errors in windows by doing this http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=48564

but the games are still very slow. CS:S running at 20/30 fps :(

I have an old asus P4S533-E but the cpu in it is very old. 1.7 williamate. Ill probably get low fps there becouse of the cpu and wont really know if the problem is the card or the cpu, oh and it only supports agp 4x. Im asking a few friends to see if they can test my card but they're not beeing very friendly :S,

Well dont forget the final possibility. That the card itself could be defective. But your performance issue leads me to believe its more of a chipset issue now. It's really hard to do troubleshooting when you cant use different hardware.

When I first got my SLI setup. I had tons and tons of problems with it. Instant lockups. Random hard locks in windows. And then I replaced the gigabyte board with the asus board and problems went away. That would be my next step..

Well, I came in a little late for suggestion.......but erh, I would do one thing before getting new hardware.

Full format my HDD, dissemble the whole PC, use a blower on the components.....rebuild, reinstall and all that. If it doesn't work then, I'll punch a wall and get my wrist fractured.

Did you do this?
