Hello everyone!

I'll cut to the chase--I've tried just about everything, and I just can't seem to get a patch for Final Fantasy XII USA (CRC=0779FBDB) to work. I'm running Pcsx2 version 0.9.6, for reference.

The game itself runs fine, albeit with slowdown issues in towns and during cutscenes. It's just that patch which doesn't function.

Here's the patch text:

I apologize for the massive patch quote, but I figured, if there's something I'm missing, it's best to give you guys the entirety of my patch so any hidden issues can be found.

As a note, the file is called '0779FBDB.pnach' and it is located in the 'patches' folder located in my PCSX2 directory. I've double- and triple-checked, I am running the USA NTSC version of FFXII, from an ISO file.

My system specs, if relevant, are as follows:

Windows XP Professional SP3
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz
3.0GB DDR2 RAM
Dual nVidia 8800 GT (in SLI)

I just don't know why it isn't working, because no matter how much I check, Vaan's speed is still 24 as opposed to 'maximum' (99, I believe), and his License Points are still at 7, instead of 350. Also, he has none of the beneficial status effects which he is supposed to have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Chikken

I can see the file in the patch browser, but am I supposed to do something there? Somewhere I read that I need to 'select' the patch, but there's no option to do that, it seems. I figured that pcsx2 just autoselected according to the CRC of the game in question...

Thank you very much for the advice regarding //, I thought comments were safe due to the 'comment=' tag that gets stuck before them, but I'll add // to every comment line and see how that works.

I used the 'common V7 encryption' for all my codes, is that what went wrong? Other people have said that these same exact codes work on their systems, but they don't seem to work for mine....

That aside, thanks again,

Chikken

Yeah, the identification codes match.

The codes tested by other people don't seem to work for me...I'll try your method and see if it works.

Thanks for looking into this,

Chikken

EDIT: OH, bloody hell. I just discovered that I didn't have patches enabled, courtesy of your guide. Thank you very very much for the link; I never would have thought of that as being the reason for this issue. I'm guessing that the codes will work properly now, thanks again.
