Hi

I just started playing FF2, the PSX version with FMVs. My question: Apart from the opening movie, how many FMVs are there in the game? I just browsed the CD on my computer, and the movie files for FF1 and FF2 don´t seem to be that big, plus they are called OPENING.STR, so is there really only one FMV each in both games?

yeah, i think so, just the opening. it's not like FF4, 5, and 6 which are laden with FMVs.

Too bad.

Anyway. So far, I´ve only played FF7 through 9, and I´ll be having quite some spare time during the next weeks, so I want to catch up a little on the FF classics. Is there a strong reason to play the games in the order they were published, or doesn´t that really matter, since the stories aren´t connected anyway?

Eh, the older a game is, the more out of place the fancy-pants CG cutscenes seem. I was totally NOT disappointed with the lack of cutscenes in FFO. I WAS however very impressed, and pleased with the great updates to the music.

I believe playing in order you can see how the games developed and got more complex etc. So i would recommend going in order.

But really it doesnt matter if you just want to play them.

i should remember since i only played it a few months ago, but i *think* theres an opening and closing FMV for each installment.
playing them in order doesn't matter much, but its a good way to help decide which to play when.
