Having a problem with Final Fantasy Anthology, (V & VI) it runs just fine, but I cant control anything! The joystick or keyboard will not respond at all- nothing. I can play Tekken 3, GT2, and Monster Rancher 2 all just fine without any bugs, but I cant get the joystick to respond with Final Fantasy Anthology. Any pointers?

You might need to upgrate your driectx to 8.0a. I did that yesterday and now I can controll the games. Directx 8.0 couldn't support joysticks that well.
Tried that, also tried the F4 trick- still wont work.. What gives? I use a Saitek P750 USB controller- it works great with any other game, including PSX games that I play on my PC.. I cant figure it out....

Lord_Verminaard, I know you say you tried pressing F4, but give this a try:press F5 and then F4 and see if it works. Some games require this to get control working. Let me know if it helps.
Eloas, FF Anthology is excellent and plays just as well as ZSNES (I have ZSNES, FF 5 (translated) and FF 3 (the US's FF 6)) and has updated movies. Other than that, FF Anthology plays and looks just like the SNES versions.

Well, I'll be damned, the F5 F4 trick worked- but now I have another problem... after I hit "start" on the title screen, it goes to a black screen, although the sound still plays and if I move the control pad around, I can hear the 'ding' of the cursor as it moves, but no picture- is this a plugin error? I use Pete's OGL driver 1.49, 1024x768, 16 bit. I have a Viper 550 AGP card with 16 megs on it, overclocked. By the way, thanks for the replies all. :)

I have played the FFV part of the anthology through out.
Open Gl doesn't work that well with the game, all the fade in/outs are clitched. You have to use pete's soft driver.
Also keep all the sound settings on, or it hangs when it tries to play some victory music.
Otherwise it works fine.

Lord_V, I'll check this problem out and get back to you on it. I have never ever had any problems w/FF Anthology at all. Could be a plug in problem. but I use Pete's OGL exclusively and have never encountered this problem. I'll let you know what I find out.

Lord_V, in order to see the menu in FF 5, be sure to set offscreen drawing to standard. I did that and it works. FF 5 plays perfectly.

Alrighty, that did it. There is still a few graphical bugs here and there, and the sound is a little bad, but I can fix those on my own time. Thanks a million for the help!
