======================

ok, with that out of the way, the cutscenes play at full speed no problem, but the game itself only runs at like 15% (about 10-15 fps)

any suggestions on how to improve this?

i've got the graphics plugin configured as such:

GSdx 890 (MSVC 15.00, SSSE3) 0.1.14

-=Windowed
-=Direct3D9 (Hardware)
-=Pixel Shader 2.0
-=No Interlacing
-=4:3
-=800 x 600
-=Texture Filtering Enabled
-=Logarithmic Z Enabled

with texture filtering and logarithmic disabled, i only get like 20%.

accordinly, from what i've read here and there, my CPU is an overkill, but yet it laggs

I am 100% sure that is not going to play this game at full speed. You should bump it up to 3.3ghz (the 6700 will hit 3.3 on air if you know what you're doing).

Also one of the millions of other pcsx2 might work a little better like squall said, i have no idea which one is going to give you a performance boost but like all things emulation, you must tinker untill you pass out, then wake up and tinker some more to figure it out.

3Ghz is easier to reach, and generally provides most people with playability

is that custom air, or stock air though.

is that the only suggestion is overclocking? because i've heard from some other posts that there are some speed hacks and such out there...

and btw, i have a cruddy $15 stock fan on my heat sync. as well, i only have a small fan on the side of my case (i havn't had the money to buy an actual case fan yet)

3.3 may be too far for you then :p.

if you can get the clock rate closer to 3.0, even 2.8Ghz, it would benefit a bit, then you won't need to use as high speedhacks.

you should get the latest PCSX2 svn compile from satanic666 though.

just FYI to followup squalls earlier question
i was using a 20$ cooler from newegg. it doesnt require much but case ventillation is a must
(the cooler was Arctic Freezer 64 pro, and i got it for 24.99)

It comes with TX-2 thermal compound pre-applied (arguable the best thermal compound)
(blahblahblah arctic silver isnt as good blahblahblah, send me PM if you dont agree and i'll be sure to ignore it)

As long as you can keep the core temp under 55c you will be fine. According to intel specs they work up to 80c but thats just way the hell to hot. I personally dont worry about it as long as its below 50c, i only start to become bothered when its above 60c

Currently im using a phenom 2 on a phase change loop so i wont go in to depth on that one, but behind me i have an athlon x2 5400+ 2.8ghz stock running at 3.4ghz 100% stable.

Seraphin, you can check out Tech Forums ( Computer Forums - Powered by vBulletin )

They have LOTS of good information on overclocking intel c2d and athlon x2s
Just take it slow, go 1 step at a time, and monitor your temperatures using something like coretemp ( Core Temp ) .
Keep the temps below 55c and you'll be fine.

Theres only 1 substance better then artic silver, and it ain't TX-2.

Edit
As thought, TX-2 is equal to, not better than Artic silver, where AS5 is applied incorrectly (to heavily)

well, each core of my quad core, is only sitting about 40-48C, which isn't that bad, considering the lack of a case fan, so overclocking to maybe 3.0-3.2 shouldn't be that bad i would assume.

i correct that....just jumping around online, jumps my prossesor heats up to like 50-58C, so overclocking might not be such a good idea...any other suggestions?

i just turned on native res, and my game speed jumped to liek 70-97% XD

Low cpu clock speed and probably need a beefier gpu, problems identified.

Yeah, nice discussion about overclocking and all. Did no one see this at all?
"NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS (32 SP 1.7GHz, 256MB DDR2 2x264MHz, PCIe 1.00 x16)"

Well, its way too slow I'm afraid. Overclock the card, maybe it helps.

hes looking to get a new card, since enabling native res improved performance.
