I'm am using the very latest beta release of PCSX2, and my computer has a Phenom 9950 (2600Mhz) and an ATI4870.

My problem is that the game runs slow. Also, the sound is about 1s late, and choppy.

The game plays at the same speed (about 80%, 40-60fps)regardless of resolution, so I suppose I have more of a cpu problem than a graphic card one. So lowering configs on sound helps, but lowering graphical stuff does nothing.

I tried speed hacks and frame skip, but they make any non-static object (as in the characters in the opening sequence, for example) not appear in half of the frames.

I plan to try to overclock my CPU, but I wanted to know if anybody had some advice? Should I be using GSdx or ZeroGs? For sound, SPU2-X or ZeroSPU2? Please help me :). Also, what CPU settings should I change that might be compatible with my CPU and FFX?

PS. My absolute priority is seamless fluidity, and a game speed of 100% (or even 150%, that would be nice, I'm impatient). If I can achieve this, and only then, I will crank up settings. Help?

My (PAL) version works fine (i have same processor, AMD Phenom 9950, Black Edit. 2,6Ghz) and it's usually at 100% and 99%, sometimes might goes down to 95% at minimum.

I use GSdz 883 (MSVC 15.00, SSE2) 0.1.13 one with the config looking like this:

Dunno if it's any help for ya (i'm using Vista also). I haven't had any large problems so far (except at Kilika screen went black after a cutscene).

I play thou with unlimited frame atm, so i don't need to wait all the stuff xP but that makes the sound not match the video (in cutscenes).

For sound i'am using P.E.OpS. SPU2 1.9.0
EDIT: I have nVIDIA GF 9800 GTX+

Thank you for your answer. I'm a bit confused about your answer. I got the latest release of GSdx, and it is only version 9 (GSdx 1832 (MSVC 16.00, SSE2) 0.1.15).

Also, you mentioned GSdz. Was that a typo, or should I be looking for a GSdz?

I haven't had time to try out anything yesterday, but can I ask you for your other settings? I'll just try to copy yours, and take it from there. In particular, can I know what you touched in CPU, advanced and speedhack settings? And where you got your GSdx/z plug-in?

PS, I'm running the FFX International [JP]. That one is a 60Hz Game. I have the [EU] version at home, but that version is an insult to gaming. Since EU PS2 is 50Hz, all they did was slow the game down to 4/5 the original speed (the pain)! Also, since PAL signal is different resolution (more pixels), all they did was add black lines to top and bottom, warping the image (Fat tidus effect). If you are going to play FFX on emulator, may I suggest you try getting a [JP] or [US] version?

Oh sry, yes GSDx; it was typo

Well i don't want to use pirated version of FFX, so i use my own and i've heard that there is no Expert Sphere Grid on US version =o

And i can't remember where i got the plugin anymore >_< i forget some things quickly. Thou i've met few places in the game where it went down to 80% for a while =o

since i'm too lazy to tell them i just show you them in the pic =o

Cool, thanks a lot for your help. It'll make my life easier.

I understand why you would want to use your original game. It's just that personally, when I pay for a game, I expect good quality. That, and having paid for the game, I own the rights to it, so I am free to download it from the net (in legal theory, although it might go against some sort of TOS, warantee etc...).

BTW, the Jap FFX International is in English, with English Subs, and an expert sphere grid :). It sells for real as import for not too expensive either. I'd recommend you try to get it if you want the best experience possible. But I don't want to push you or anything, just trying to help too.

Anyways, thanks a lot for your help :)
