FFX and stability configuration

I've been playing FFX (Japanese international import) for about 6 hours now, and I got to a point where the game always hangs:

When I get to Kilika, after the sending, the screen fades to black, and then nothing happens. The emulator doesn't crash, the game is just stuck in a black screen.

I tried running the game with null(null) render, but it didn't work, as well as no sound, but no luck either. (I don't use save states)

I found a few other people had this problem, and said to try EE Clamp->normal, but it didn't help. I also read that this fix doesn't work with the beta release, but everywhere I read people said the beta is more stable oO

So here is my question. Which is the most stable configuration for getting past a blocking FFX? I of course have ALL speedhacks off, but what about clamping mode? Should it be "normal" or "full". Should I use 0.9.6, or beta?

I've been trying things out, but that scene is 10-20 minutes long before the hang...

Who else has had this problem, and what were your configs to get past it?

No problems here.I've tried:
PCSX2-r1504 with:
GSdx-SSE2-r1650(DX9HW,Native and Logarithmic Z are on,everything else off)
ZeroSPU2(default settings),Lilypad-r1853(nothing special) and Gigaherz's CDVD(I tried the game from the disk).
For pcsx2 settings:
CPU - No speed limit(I can't get full speed anyway),everything else is on except microVU 0/1
Speed hacks - all on and max except Status Flag Hack and Min/Max Hack
Advanced - Default Settings

I also tried with pcsx2-r1888(the newest beta) but with SPU2-X(1.2.0)(recommended settings and nothing is checked) and GSdx-SSE2-r1873 and without any speed hack.No problems at all
No problems at all
You mean at that particular scene? because my FFX had been working fine for 6 hours, but always stopped dead at that one scene.

Thanks for your help. I'll try with your config. If anybody else has anything to add...

Also, just to make sure, when you say
CPU - No speed limit(I can't get full speed anyway),everything else is on except microVU 0/1
We're talking about recompilers here, right? You recompile VURec 0/1, but not microVU 0/1?

A lot of users complain about freezing/crashing after different scenes but I don't have any problems.I just downloaded a save on the first possible save spot after the sin battle and just played to see if pcsx2 will freze/crash after that scene but i didn't have any problems

There is nothing special about my settings,I just started the game to see if the emu will encounter a problem after that scene,I didn't modify any settings especially good for FFX.

microVU 0/1 are not enabled, everything else is enabled.

btw I have the international version too
Thanks again for your help. I was able to get by.

I think the setting I had forgotten was to deactivate the MicroVU recompiler. Thanks a lot for your help, you saved me hours of tooling, and probably kept me from losing my sanity ;)

Now, back to Spira...
