I made them all the same way with my original discs using ISOBuster and Disc 1 played to the end with zero problems. Trying to load the file for disc 2 makes the emulator crash. I tried disc 3 & 4 and they also crashed.
If you're using ePSXe 1.70, then you'll need to install a virtual disc drive like Daemon Tools and mount the image there and use Run CD/Change Disc. The problem stems from ePSXe 1.70 having a broken ISO changer. Changing physical discs still works though.
1.60 and older allow ISO swapping. You can use this instead if you don't want to install a virtual drive.
The disc swapping bug isn't my issue. The problem I'm having is no other disc besides Disc 1 will even load. I can't even get to the opening credits/Title Screen on discs 2-4.
Ok thats weird! Apparently I have two copies of FFVIII and I made the Disc 1 .iso with the Squaresoft Disc 1, and the other 3 discs I used the re-released Square-Enix discs. I found the Squaresoft discs and made a new Disc 2 .iso and it loaded up PERFECTLY.
cloneCD was mentioned ealier i believe, you can also try alcohol 120. the thread below will show you how to make a psx game image correctly and includes tutorials on those and several other programs you can use.
