FFVII ISO Problem Help Please!

So in my FFVII game evrything runs fine except for when i get to battles. The window on the bottom, that should list the characters and list of options like attack in stuff, is black. Theres one lone rectangle of the blue ur supposed to see but the rest is black. I can still see the characters and the enemies just not the window on the bottom. :(

ok, new peoblem, my sound is very choppy and at times sounds like an echo. what settings should i use
