Do I need to say spoilers? doesn't matter.

Near the end of the 2nd disc, when you revisit the city of the anciants, after the old man inserts the key, water start flowing, and then you're supposed to enter them. But as soon as I enter them, the screen goes black and I don't see anything. I tried pressing the button to pass the conversations, but it seems like the game froze.

Is your CD scratched or anything? It could be a reading error

wow.. this is the 3rd time this problem is reported, seeing as how i and many played through the game fine, it probably is something piracy-related... I just wonder if people do this ('share' damaged discs) on purpose or by mistake, anyway, it just screws everyone up : them, software pirates, forum helpers, mods, everyone. but if it isn't a warez problem, say so. who knows, maybe it's just an easily scratched spot on the disc or something (yeah, i know, that didn't make sense). as for fixing, getting another copy of the game (perhaps a legal one? that'd be nice) should fix it.
if you already have a legal copy, please disregard most of what i said, but it's kinda weird it's such a common problem, disc scratches are usually random.

I had the real version, but it broke, so I downloaded a new one.

Ok, I lied, I had the PC version, and it was too scratched to be repaired. And since the PC version gets frozen on at least 5 places, I downloaded the PSX version.

Guess I'll download another emulator.

Hmmm, no use, ePSXe runs FF7 almost perfectly (few glitches, but never crashes)
your ISO is simply corrupt
