ok ive found out what has caused it. the details of the error message (there was an error message but i culdnt click on it coz the comp crashed) say that there was something up with gpupeopssoft.dll. so i tried d3d and it worked fine. why does the soft gpu plugin not work with patched games??

yes just tried a fresh download of the peops soft plugin and the same error appears.
ive tried ssspsx and the same happens. patch loads but emulator crashes.
same happens with psxeven 0.17WIP.

funny thing is when i use d3d with epsxe it runs the game but with ssspsx or psxeven it just continuously reads the cd.*confused*

tried the updated driver for msi ms-8808 tnt2/m64 but ff9 still doesnt run with peops soft gpu. Does the cd plugin need changing? im using peops cdr 1.4.

However the choppy sounds ive been experiencing have reduced, phew!

well sapu cannot read subchannels or allow me to use a patch. xeven doesnt really do anything different.
however i have sort of fixed the problem. i just changed the reading from async to smooth and it runs now(a bit slow when exploring but battles are perfect!) but now i get the following error when i shut down epsxe:

EPSXE caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0197:bff7a138.

Also if i run the game off an iso with sapu cdrom plugin. would the enabling of the 'track iso' option do anything for me? :)
