I'm playing an iso of FF9, and whenever I enter a battle scene, the music and video rates slow down alot, everything becomes really choppy, it's unbearable. Anyone know how I can fix this, I'm kind new to using ePSXe, so I don't know much about all the different options and stuff, so if anyone can explain to me, I'd be greatful. Also, sometimes after completing a battle, the sound will get stuck on the last noise it played, so I end up with this really annoying buzz leftover from the last sound.... Any help, would be greatly appreciated!

CPU Specs.

I'm running a AMD T-Bird 850Mhz with 128Mb ram, NVidia Riva TNT2 video card with 64Mb, and my sound card is a Turtle Beach Voyetra. I tried installing a SoundBlaster Live X-Gamer but it conflicted with my chipset on my motherboard, adn I couldn't get it to work. Also running Win ME, hoping to upgrade to XP sometime soon, cause ME sucks more than I can describe. Any ideas about the huge slowdown in graphics when it enters battles?

Eternal

I changed my sound plugin to Eternal, and it works fine now. Thanks very much. I have one more problem though, The framerate of the game is all weird now, it runs really fast, at some points, and then slows down to normal speed. I'm using Pete's Open GL plugin, and in the framerate section of the configuration, i have Auto Detect FPS/Frame skipping limit, selected, should i set it to something else, like set the FPS limit to 200 or something. I'm new at all this so, any help is great.

are you talking about the swirl thing? That's what happens to me in ePSXe. You have to change something so the swirls won't render anymore. I don't remember how but maybe someone here can give instructions.

You set framebuffer textures to black to disable the swirly, but that doesn't sound like his problem. Set your framelimiting as the venerable bgnome has suggested and it is also highly recommended to disable frameskipping as it is known to have a bit of a negative impact upon viewing the battle menus.

That is what the configuration I suggested above does.. He is running the game from an iso, so there shouldn't be that much of a slowdown other than the swirl effect..

ok, just so everyone knows....

Ok, I was able to fix this problem. I'm running the game from a cd, created from an ISO. Here's the way I've got it configured just incase anyone else has any problems. I'm using the Eternal spu plugin for sound, and Pete's Open Gl for the video. To take away the slowdown effect that the swirl has, i cinfigured it as such... For Caching type, i have it set to #2:dynamic, I have the FPS limit set to 65, cause i think 60 is just a bit too slow, and in Framebuffer Textures I set it to 1: Black - Fast but no special effects. Under Misc. nothing is checked. I hope this helps out someone else
