FF9 set up help

at random, the screen goes black but the music is still playing but nothing else is happening. To stop, i have to press Esc, which takes me to a smaller screen, and then press it again to get the epsx window with no screen, and then I go to Run>Continue and it will go back to where I was. Please help me stop it, it gets annoying. Thank you.

I bet you don't have proper drivers installed. Head to ati's site and get the latest catalyst drivers. You could always get omega drivers, but i don't think it's the best idea, as you don't seem all that knowledgeable about computers.

Could you post your settings, you always said that it helped us giving you settings, but we gave you two I think, one for OGL2 and one for OGL (or gave you a link to it anyway). Which are you using? OGL or OGL2?

Go to your GPU settings and press print screen button, usually above insert, to the right of f12 on the top-right part of the keyboard (Prt Scr) to be exact. Then go to paint, or a better graphics application if you have one, and create a new image and then press ctrl+v to paste. You can crop the image to your gpu settings if you want to save space/hide your embarrasing background, then save it as a jpeg, and add it as an attachment, so we can really see what's going on.

The blackouts, I would've thought would be driver probs, but could it also be from a bad cd (hence a badly made ISO)? That would usually crash that game I think though.

I am using OGL2. I put a picture of my config here and hopefully it comes out. Also, what should I download from the ATI site. I don't see anything about catalyst drivers. And one other thing i noticed is that during battles the game will slow a bit when certain spells, so far just blizzard, is cast. Can this be solved by lowering the resolution. Thank you.

All you had to do was click on drivers & software button, then select your os, type of card (graphics), then what family of cards (radeon), then it brings you to the driver page.

I tried downloading the stuff and installing it, but it wont let me, saying that I'm missing stuff or that I need to do something, so now I am confused on what to do. Please help me. Thank you.

Actually, once opened Ati's site, there as a big piece of text on the lower left corner that says "catalyst drivers" . I think you are missing the .net framework 1.1, it's needed to install the drivers.

I downloaded that, and when I try to install the catalyst, i get a message saying "INF error: Video driver not found"

You've been warned already about multiposting, do not repeat it. About your blackouts, i still think it has to do with your drivers. You'll have to manage to get them installed. Maybe your download was corrupted, try redownloading the catalyst package.

The .net framework won't install on my computer after I saved it from the site you gave me. Is there another application that I can use so I can download the catalyst stuff? Thank you.

? There's something majorly screwed on your pc then. Try installing omega drivers then (link in a previous post), they don't need the .net thingie.

I installed the Omega drivers and it did not help and actually changed my stuff, so everything is smaller, including when I watch videos on WMP. I uninstalled it, but my displays remained the same. Furthermore, while playing the program will exit saying "No buffer available" under the Pete GL2 title. When this happens, my computer seems to go back to normal. First, how can I get my computer back to normal as it was before I downloaded the damn drives. Second, what do I do about the buffer thing since it occassionally won't let me even load the program. At this rate, I care more about my comp. working normally than the annoying blackouts, unless someone can come up with a easier, safer solution. Thank you.

How about installing the omega drivers and then changing your desktop resoloution back to what you had it before.

I fixed my resolution problem, but even with the Omega drivers I still have the problem of the blackouts. What should I do now?

What do you mean by monitor specs? Could you be more specific, sorry.

What monitor are you using?

I am using a Inspiron 9100 Dell notebook, if that is what you mean.

Kane-sama...i was stupid enough not to review the previous posts that he was using a laptop. oO The GPU plugins has resolutions not supporting your laptop.

Check your user manual and determine which resolutions can be used for your laptop.
