Hi mates!
After all these years I've decided to play through FF9, but all the way trough this time :)
Thing is when I first got it my PSX was on verge of dying and by the 4th disc ******* died, so I never finished the damn game  I got rid of PSX and never really had will to start all over again.

Now as KOTOR2 is nearing its end I've got this urge to play RPGs again :) I have Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and FF9 to choose from :)

Now what I was thinking. If I decide to play FF9 how should I play it? On my PC?
(better graphics although I don't like how the backgrounds look like ingame)
or PS2?
(TV :) )

I have good rig so playing on PC won't be a problem (but setting up the ePSXe will that's why I'll look up Kanes page) and I got myself USB converter for my PSX gamepad.

So what would you guys recommed?

I'd play it on my PC, but that's because I can't be bothered to use my consoles most of the time. Yes it'll look better on the PC, but it won't look bad on the PS2 (if you enable texture filtering)

I love the enhanced and filtered graphics that epsxe+ogl2 offers, and you can simulate the tv look by adding scanlines. Even more, you can hook your pc to a tv through the gfx card's tv out (and if your rig is no older than a couple of years it surely has). I have both a ps2 and ePSXe and i use the latter, so that's what i recommend.

Well its decided than :)
Now off to Kanes page to get me the best possible config for FF9 =)
P.S. Rig is new, all the latest stuff + overclocked so it should do :)
Will be back for more help surely but in ePSXe forums of course :)

No, oc is a bad idea with ePSXe, it's very very sensitive when it comes to an overclocked cpu.

It's just that ePSXe can be a ***** about it. If you have problems with it, that's the first thing to change.

Notice taken :)
2 more Q only :) Would you recommend using ePSXe 1.5.2 or 1.6.0 ?
(Playing FF9 and perhaps Xenogears later on [Haven't finished that one either] )
Heard that there are problems with 1.6.0 and FF9 :/

Kane mate, if you were to play FF9 on "Celes" lets say, what plugin would you use ? 1.7.x or OGL2 ?

On Celes, I always use OpenGL2.x, regardless of the game. It's more compatible than OpenGL1.x and I think under most circumstances it looks better.
Raz and me argue about this on occasion tho, as he doesn't liek the fact that in OpenGL2.x, all the framebuffer effects look 'software-ish'. Essentialy they are unfiltered, but In OpenGL1.x if you don't use FSAA, they can look much better.

As for ePSXe 1.5.2 or 1.6.0, I'd say 1.5.2. You can always try switching to 1.6.0 if you have problems with Xenogears. Just name the exe differently

OGL1.x does look a lot better at higher resolutions IMO, even with Very High X/Y (I play at 1400x1050 because of my LCD). Still, OGL2.x is so much hassle-free to configure that it's hard to argue against it.
