I started playing FF9 and when i got to the world map after the evil forest, realized the battles on the world map do not work. Everything was working up until that point, and if i save and run into the ice cavern without triggering a battle, things work in there as well. When I run into a battle on the world map a gray square appears and the battle music starts, but nothing happens. I've tried a whole different variety of plugins on epsxe v 1.2.0, 1.4.0 and 1.6.0. is there another emulator i should try? With 1.2.0 and 1.4.0 the dos screen in behind shows there is some sort of read error but Im using a real copy of FF9 and there are no scratches... maybe its my cd drive?

Use ePSXe 1.5.2, and use the config on my website. If you are having CD reading errors, try making an ISO or switching CD plugins. I reccomend Xevens or SaPu's plugins.

its got nothing to do with your CD drive, however it could be the problem of using a patch or are you using a cheater like PSX EMULATION CHEATER, coz if you are, problems like that may happen
