hey ppl.. i just started using epsxe a couple days ago and i'm damn impressed with the level of perfection it is able to emulate the psx. i'm using lewpy's gpu plugin and everything is crystal clear.. way better than my tv :) however there are some minor problems that i have encountered... not that its anything serious..

when someone is in TRANCE mode, theres supposed to be the word trance in the battle menu at the top, but all i see is some colourful thingy :\

the characters are sometimes messed up, like their body gets deformed when moving around..

during leviatian summon or anything with ALOT of animation, everything lags alittle (including sound).. no biggie

nothing serious but if theres a 'perfect' setting using lewpy's gpu plugin, i'd appreciate it if someone would let me know, thanks in advance :D

oh yea i'm using p3 500/128mb ram/voodoo3 3000

and yes i have read all previous threads with the word 'ff9' before starting this thread ;)

try setting

framebuffer to "read/write"
Offscreendrawing to "full"

this may fix the missing "trance" text
it will slow down the game though... YOU could try offscreendrawing to "basic" or "extra" for faster gameplay... "full" and "extra+fbr" will slow down a little.... Not for me though because I got a tbird 1000 and a voodoo 5 5500 agp... So everything shows fine and no slowdown...

If you haven't already done this it will help. Free up about 750Mb on your HD and make an ISO copy of the CD that you're currently playing. All games play faster this way. You can use quite a few CD burning programs to make an ISO even if you don't have a CDR drive. I recommend ISObuster at www.isobuster.com or CDRwin at www.goldenhawk.com (CDRwin is shareware, but you can use it to read at 1x for free)

It's the sound that can cause problems with FF9. The core sound hangs on notes frequently. Null2's sound plays FMV horribly (but everything else nicely). Pete's newer DirectSound driver messes up on the Soundeffects and a few other places). So take your pick. I personally use Pete's for FF9. Used Null2's before that.

BTW the Pete's newer Sound plugin isn't on psxemu's plugin page. You need to go to his homepage or look under "latest Downloads" in the main page of psxemu

This page really needs to be updated:
