I know there are a lot of posts about ff8, but none of them seem to help me. Currently Im having an issue with the game being nice graphically. The biggest issue is that in aome areas (mostly noticable in the train sequences), there seems to be too greater distinction between the body and neck of the characters, and when they move there's a small gap (i.e. when you walk as squall, you can see a line of grey from the fur on his jacket).

My Specs are as follows

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1
Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz
2 GB Ram
32 bit Operating System
NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE

Also if there is any advice on increasing the visuals in general it would be much appreciated.

That actually occurs on the PSX, it just isn't as noticed because of the much lower resolution.

I just picked up ePSXe two days ago, because FF8 for PC looks absolutely horrible. I tried using OGL 2.9, with the recommended settings I've seen on these forums (the 1-2-2 compatibility setting, 0x0001 and 0x0002 game fixes, and the other settings I've seen, but the pre-rendered backgrounds look bad. I do run the game at 1920x1200, because I can't deal with a tiny 640x480 box on my monitor - I'd rather play the game on my ps3 with smoothing on. I ended up using P.E.Op.S OpenGL Driver 1.78, and playing with the settings until I found something I liked.

Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.60 ghz
2gb pc2 6400 RAM
GeForce 9800 GTX+

I also recorded a video (using Fraps) of Shiva. Recording this video made the framerate very choppy - it doesn't look like that when I'm not capturing video. It's 1920x1200, so it's 545mb for a 45 second video (lol) :

My settings are by no means perfect, as I have some problems on the world map - but I can deal with them as long as the backgrounds look nice. The FMV videos look very nice for 320x240 source material. This is my first post here - if I did anything annoying, let me know and I will edit the post.

That looks better than what I ever got. After like an hour messing with settings, I just gave up.

To the TC, I don't really think they look better on the ps. I hooked up my old tube tv to play this game(and probably some more when they fail to impress on the computer) and after coming from HD displays(monitors or tvs), you can tell how much is really being hidden by the standard def picture. It looks better only as in, you don't see the terribleness because it's literally not being drawn on the screen because of the low detail of standard definition. But it stills looks better(more like original) than anything I could get off my pc.
