Information itself would be useful :) I've asked this many times but none seems to konw! :( Man im tired of looking throuhg the cd and not findig anything that looks like music os sound! And the same happens W/ Final FAntasy 8 & 9!
Can anyone please help me?

To rip sound samples from a PSX game.
Find the program Thv,
To rip the MIDIs from the game, find the program seq2mid.

FF7 has all soundsamples and seq files(mids) in the .IMG file.

I already have the programs but i some doubts:
1 - Are the files extracted exactly the same that play in the PSX (How can midis
give that quality?)
2 - What exactly does seq2mid do?
3 - Can those midis be ripped to wave?
4 - Does it really work?
5 - How do I extract the seq files from the bin files?

Thks in advance

To utilize the samples and the MIDIs with absolutly no compositional skill, or equipment.

You need an SBLive, and Vienna SoundFont Studio.

You then use the ripped sound samples to reproduce the PSX MIDI instruments.

Second.. seq2mid takes the sequence files, which are MIDIs, basicly.
It converts the files to the .mid format. It's your job to go threw the tracks, apply appropriate program numbers, and create the soundfonts from the ripped samples.

Finally... FF7 sounds like a cheap Casio, as well as 8, and 9, minus the orchestrated tracks with the FMVs.
So, yes, it's very possible to do it with MIDI.

Once again, I'll post this link.

Listen to the audio demos of the GigaSampler instrument files.

Die vile midi stereotypes, DIE!

And I avoidded answering the question..
Oops...

Start-Program Files-MS DOS prompt.

C:\seq2mid.exe D:\PSX\PSXmusic.bin

Change directorys to be.. valid, as well as file names.

You will need a MIDI sequencer to change the MIDI instruments.

Also, for Xenogears, or Chrono Cross, this isn't possible.
As they did some crazy protection I've yet to ever figure out.

In all truthfullness.

To actually make efficent use of the extracted sound samples, you need to have a way of either making the MIDI a module, or having a way of making and using soundfonts.

Both of these are a pain in the ass, which is why we don't see hundreds of soundfonts from PSX games with ripped MIDIs.

Though, if you tell me which songs you want a MIDI of, I'll see if I can get around to doing something.

In the meantime, http://www.vgmusic.com/ is a good source of MIDI's from several games.
