I've been using EPSXE 1.7 for some time and I've never had a problem until FF7. I played Resident Evil 2 and 3 with no problems at all. I was using P.E.Op.S. Soft Drive 1.8 and it worked fine. Now, on FF7, depending on the settings, will either have the battle scenes or walking scenes running unbearably slow.

I've tried a few other graphic plugins with little success. Sometimes the battle transition screen (swirling) will never occur. Any ideas?

I'm running Windows XP SP 3
768 MB memory
Intel Pentium 4 2.80GHz
Display: Trident CyberALADDiN-P4 v6.4612.22ICD_SE_NP 6.14.1.10

And what's your graphics card ?(i'm guesing something onboard though) start=>Run=>dxdiag and look at the display its listed there.

From what are you playing image or disk ? and post the settings of the PEOPS soft plugin.

As for Opengl2 plugin you may not have the proper opengl2 extensions installed.

dont try using the OGL2 with that then, its not strong enough. the swirl effect can be enabled in other hardware plugins by enabling the FF7 game fix and setting the compatibilty section up in a fashion similar to what is shown below

Those are the drivers... tell me the laptops model number and i'll look it up myself. As for opengl2 like jonc said from what i looked into it doesnt have the power for it, and i dont even think it has support for opengl2.

Just as i suspected your onboard gpu card is the Trident CyberBlade XP2 AGP like hushy said try pSX if that doesnt work lower the settings of the of the PEOPS plugin as much as possible maybe that will make it work better...

PS: if your playing from cd make a image (cue/bin/img recommended) and play using that.
