ive just remastered the ff7 prelude, (shoved it through some synths and re eq'd it) i was wandering if there are any sites i can upload this to, so i can link to it in forums.

Im not sure of the legality of this so if this is against forum rules then please put me straight, im not out to annoy any moderators, just get some feedback on how i can improve some of the ff7 music. :thumb:

This is the prelude tune for ff7, my headphones are bust so it might not be accurate on all speakers but it should sound allright, try comparing it to the original psx file, this is a WIP and i need feedback so that i can refine it and redo the rest of the ff7 soundtrack

All feedback is good feedback, so if you downloaded it tell me what you think cheers. :thumb:

ps Thanks cloudvii

I couldn't really tell much of a difference between this track and the original... after all, you only synthed it. And unfortunately I don't think it would qualify for a remix if you entered it into OCRemixes as what you did was a programmable process, and you didn't do much of an alteration at that.

Sorry, nice try though.

Edited: its not a remix im not trying to put it on ocremix, im trying to make it sound better quality than the original, if you listen to the psx original http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/ff7/01 - Prelude.mp3 and compare it to the one i have done my one sounds a lot wider and the main synth sounds a lot more "synth" like and less like a soundfont also the instruments (strings etc) are of a higher quality, its also not finished, i just needed some feedback to see whether i should do more of the ff7 soundtrack

I really don't want to turn this into an argument... but might I ask why you made it? Because I honestly fail to see the point in such a minor alteration.

I really do intend a friendly nature, so please don't take my comments the wrong way :).

im just trying to improve the quality of the originals, cause the psx didnt have much ram for samples, the original soundtrack (brilliant though it is) doesnt sound very nice compared to newer game soundtracks (not the compostition thats brilliant just the samples used for the instruments) so i need feedback like "you used the wrong type of strings" or "its way to bassy/tinny" etc.

im not after an arguement either, how about a fight instead ;) (not really)

You actually tapped onto something I was attempting a few months ago. There is a program called PSound that lets you see the instrument samples used to generate the midi music in games like FF7 (psx version). I was trying to find a way to replace the intruments with the ones from FF9 so I could get an interestingly remixed soundtrack, which I would release through an IPS patch to the iso... Alas, I couldn't find a program to import the sound samples :(.

replacing the psx sounds would be sweet, only problem would be that instead of a choir in one winged angel ,you'd have a woodblock sound. Are the samples contained in the midis (like a mod or xm file) or in seperate files on psx.

Well unfortunately its beyond me and other people have asked the writer of PSound if he could make an import feature. He replied saying it is a very complex process indeed and he couldn't be bothered doing it.

I can see ur point Dogmaan. But still I'm afraid that it's not that big difference. Yeah sure your's are very good quality wise, but I think that the PSX version is good too. And also how you would replace the quality music with psx one is anotehr problem. Though I heard of a way to do something similar in the PC version. Iirc Kane replaced the midis from FF7 PC with the Playstation font nusic of PSX.

Edit 1 : Btw, have you heard the FF7 Prelude remix from the FF7 PSX demo? Check the attachement ;)
