ff7 disc feature!

A while back i played final fantasy 7 on my psone and i discovered something about the discs. when i inserted disc 1 and started, the game normal of course. but because the game was hanging i took out disc 1 and inserted disc 2 by mistake. however, the game still ran as normal from disc 2. i also tried this with the other discs and they all did the same thing!!

How was that possible?? is the whole game stored as backup on each of the discs??!! :D

Well, that's because all of the discs contain pretty much identical data and are all handled the same way by the game. However they all have different cinematics.

Just remove a disc during a cinematic and insert another one to see what I mean :p
they have the same maps and stuff, but like location data and things like that are different...its funny though when you use teh wrong disc and it plays the wrong fmv

All non FMV code and data are replicated exactly on each disc. Location data is dependent on the progress of the game. So it's true that it's really just the FMVs which bloat the CDs.
would this feature work with epsxe then?
Why not? I guess it'll do the same effect on a Playstation. Not sure though.
yeah, try it. when you're playing FF7 take out your disc 1 and put in disc 2.
Does this work on Playstation 2? Cause when you remove the CD in the middle of the game in PS2, it will go back to the PS2 starting screen.
only some games do that. when you open the PS2, some games go to the main screen, some just hang, and some actually keep playing. i was playing Red Ninja on my PS2 yesterday and i opened the disc to switch to Initial D and it kept going.

Until the next loading sequence :D

except for Ridge Racer, you can play that entire game off just the save state
PS2 Bios = Poorly coded :p
