FF6(controller) & Chrono Cross(noauto?)

Hello,

New to forum. Did some searches and found nothing. What is "noauto" for Chrono Cross that people use at the command line? I'm playing it just fine but people are saying it runs better with noauto. I went to start(windows xp) and run and type "noauto" at the open command line and it says windows can not find.... I don't think thats what the people are talking about around here. Please tell me the right of way running this noauto that chrono cross uses. And does any one have problems with Final Fantasy 6 controllers not working at all? Goes to new menu but can not move up or down with ps2 controller or keyboard. Controller works with other games...Soul Reaver, Chrono Cross, FF7...

Thanks
jon

Forgot, also using epsxe 160 and 152 for some games that runs better on it like chrono cross

Pete's dx something plugin
To use the -noauto switch (which is needed only in ePSXe 1.6.0), make a shortcut of ePSXe (if you haven't already), right click on it, then click on Properties. Add -noauto at the end of the Target box. Here's an example of what it should look like.

"C:\Documents and Settings\Nick\My Documents\ePSXe\1.5.2\ePSXe.exe" -noauto

You should use the odd/even bit hack game fix with either version of ePSXe. Also, you should try running Pete's OpenGL plugin. It's better than his DX plugins and it should run fine on your laptop's video card.
Hey thanks alot. It worked. I'm also new to the emulation scene but I got it to work the first time around. Play both Psx, Ps2 games. After done playing some new ps2 games, I like to play some of the classic psx that I've long forgotten. My ps2 laser fried so playing psx on laptop. How's Ps2 emulators? If I shouldn't be talking about that. Sorry. Scrape it. Thanks for the help.

PS
Playing these games won't damage my laptop laser will it? Because I think that's what happened to my ps2. I'll just make an image file if it does damage the laser.
It won't damage the laser but it will cause everyday wear and tear on the drive like any other disc would. As for PS2 emulators, wait a few years ;). They're still in their early stages. Just out of curiosity, were you getting disc read errors with your PS2?
I will try the other plungin that you suggested. Yes I didn get a Disc Read Error. I tried everything... adusting laser, dvd pots. Won't read backups or originals. Had over a year with modifications. New laser plus install is about $100. Forget, almost the cost of a new ps2 slimeline. I heard those have laser problems as well. Will eventually get one when more games I like come out. Hey what exacty does this "noauto" do anyway for chrono cross or for epsxe itself? I'm glad I found this emualtion thing so I don't have to spend money on a new ps2 for a few months. Oh and I just toss the dead laser ps2 into the garbage. Thanks.

Hope this helps :).

THANK-YOU!!! aFTER SO MANY EFFORTS AND AFTER READING SO MANY BAD WAY TO FIX IT IN SO MANY FORUMS... I FINALLY COULD PLAY CHRONO CROSS!!! GREAT.....:thumb:
lol I registered just to echo the feelings of the previous poster.

On so many sites people just forget to mention HOW to add command lines instead of just giving lists of what to use and frequently pointing to the manual (which also forgets to mention how to add switches).

I still dont know how to do it properly other than what was mentioned above (which fixed my problem).

"Where do I type -help!?" Was all I could think/shout to myself.
