FF XIII...gameplay not as advertised?

The difference doesn't take a hawkeye to notice.

Of course, speculation and opinions have been thrown around now.

I'm kinda leaning towards the "One is PS3, other is 360" argument.

Let the discussion begin...and please, no PS3 vs 360 wars, we've had enough of that this past week.

I heared there was a pc version bieng released and has been confirmed by squareenix ages ago
You may have gotten FFXIII and FFXIV mixed up there.

People assumed there would be a PC version after hearing the Crystal Tools was made for all platforms. Which is true. But I doubt S-E wants to release the first release of their flagship title on the PC, where pirated games are most rampant.
Yet they sold the Last Remnant on the PC, was it heavily pirated?
I don't really know Paratech. Probably the same number of people that pirated any other game, since it is always the same ones.

As an old article I posted here sometime ago said, people who choose not to buy games aren't really part of the gaming market, so when companies develop games they probably doesn't have this public in mind, since they know this public would probably use a pirated copy, whatever game it'd be.

It's also not a flagship series. If anything, new series benefit from piracy since more people will be playing the game, than if they weren't piratable. Kind of how no-name devs benefit when they make their first game. Really, it's a double-edged sword. But I digress.
Does anybody honestly care more about Last Remnant then the FF series though?

Plus, it does not use the Crystal Tools engine. Perhaps the big reason why FFXIII is not initially coming out on PC as well is because the average home PC owner would not be able to run it at a decent level.

I've been following the snippits and info related to FFXIV quite closely. One of the points that being discussed pretty intently on some FFXIV boards is the requirements for the PC version. S-E stated for players who intend to order the PC version, that they should be prepared for a computer upgrade.
Ok.. I decided to investigate those rumours about FFXIII on PC.. It seems Nvidia leaked on the internet something about FFXIII being produced through PC based tools, but not that if it will be released for PC or not. Anyway, now the rumours are getting spread everywhere, despite of SE official comment that the game won't be released on PC.

This is some old crap from Kotaku:

We contacted Square Enix, and according to the company, "The game is being built using PC-based development tools, but that doesn’t mean it’s being created for the PC platform. Our current plans are to release FFXIII for the PS3 and Xbox 360 only. Sorry for the confusion!" So to recap, it's being created with PC-based dev tools, but with plans only for PS3/Xbox 360 console release.
Probably won't be released for PC. Who knows... They could as well be hiding the game.
On the contrary. It was confirmed there will be no pc version.
i wish ffxiii was coming to the pc.

the PC has the potential for the greatest graphics since its always evolving, whereas the PS3/xbox 360 will always have fixed hardware for compatibility reasons.

furthermore, its alot easier to port a xbox 360 game to pc, than a ps3 game to xbox 360.

Hey, I wish it did too. And it could be done as easily as it is for 360 to PC and vice versa. Crystal Tools is a multi-platform engine, but the PC part may need something relatively beefy to run smoothly.

We're supposed to be hearing some more stuff on FFXIV at gamecon, so I expect they'll talk a little about FFXIII as well.
I think the main reason it's not coming out on PC isn't because it requires a beefy machine, or that there's piracy or anything, but because Crystal Tools for PC is not finished yet. Granted... the development tools are already finished, but not like the engine itself is ready. :innocent:

That aside, even if we go by the "best graphics isn't the best gameplay" motto, I believe... PS3 fanboys are going to get a field day out of this... :innocent: Flamebait much? And coming from S-E, no less.
And the nude mods. Dont forget the nude mods.

Lightning
Crystal Tools for PC is not finished yet.
Wait a sec.. That doesn't make any sense... Isn't Crystal Tool the PC based tool we're talking about ?? Are they developing the game with an unfinished tool or something ?? Heh.. I think this is going way out of hand. The beefy machine and piracy has nothing to do with it, but this argument obviously have anything to do with it as well. It simply doesn't make any sense.

It's easier to say: SE don't want to release FFXIII for PC, because they simply don't want to create a windows based engine to work with, using crystal tools. Crystal Tools is PC based, but no one said it is windows based. We should know more about it to make such deep comments.

The developmental tools are finished. The actual engine for the PC platform is not.
Uhhh, now I'm a bit confused.

Crystal Tools, the engine, is done. It's an engine that runs on all seventh generation platforms, including the PC. So when you say Crystal Tools engine, you're talking about the same engine for all platforms... At least I'm pretty that's how it goes.

I'm fairly certain the engine is complete. FFXIV is supposed to kick off beta later this year or early this year. There's no way they would be showcasing a game and starting to market it if they engine it was built on wasn't complete...

IF FFXIII were coming to PC. i would prefer it to be ported from the PS3.
Is wishful thinking but I would love to get Final Fantasy XIII on PC.
They could be porting it from the super nintendo i don't care as long its also on PC :p

Yep, I agree.. But FFXIII not coming to PC must be a different issue, like contracts and those stuff from the business world. But something is all of this is really annoying.

We have all seen the efforts SE is doing to increase their cut in the western gaming market, it's unbelivable they will miss the chance to release FFXIII for PC, they could cut deals with Nvidia, Intel, etc. Whose company wouldn't wish to have their name stamped on a Final Fantasy product, anyway. How much those companies wouldn't pay to have their names displayed in this game. And as a bonus SE would have it's name associated with Nvidia and Intel, both strong companies in the west side.

I think SE is missing a big chance there.
Its PS3 vs Xbox.

the Xbox will have lower quality textures, which is why that there is actually less detail in the 2nd pictures.

Remembering, the Xbox has to be able to hold the textures on 1 or 2 dvd's, while the PS3 has an entire BD to store them on
What? Textures don't take up that kind of space man. FMV and Audio do. I have no idea where you got that xbox will have lower quality textures because its not using BD. Because its not true at all. lol

fat lot you know about textures then.
