Hi,

I was able to play the whole ff9 game (ntsc version) without problems - until the endscene in cd 4. It is after the talk between kuja and zidane at the place where zidane stands and the roots of the lifa tree attacks him. When it freezes, the picture becomes a lot of different colours in small boxes , and a annoying, strange sound starts. :(

I´d changed the settings - what ever i did, it didn´t help ! It freezes everytime at the same place.

I´ve installed the ePSXeCutor , too and also tried different settings. The problem didn´t disappear. oO

About my PC :

Geforce 8800GTX
Intel Core 6600 CPU
4GB Ram

your video plugin is outdated, download the latest version (1.77) from the link below. if that doesnt correct the problem, post a screenshot of how you have the plugin configured.

Have you tried switching to PEOPS Soft GPU (hit F7) right before the cutscene plays? If it works, then it's likely the D3D plugin.

If it still fails, maybe the CDR plugin is reading bad data. Sapu 1.3 is in the forums somewhere here at ngemu.

Screenshot = Alt + 'Print Screen' key.
(Windows) Open up 'Paint' and hit 'Paste'. Save as PNG. Attach it to forums.

disable the game fixes

set compatibility to 3-3-4 and advanced blending to hardware

run it from the actual disk using Sapu CDR... patched copies can have problems.

Does the disc have any somewhat nasty scratches? (Probably 'no' but I'm curious a bit)

Does a newer epsxe (1.6, 1.7) load the savestate and run okay?

Have you tried reloading from the memcard and play the endgame scenario again?

This is a regular CD1-CD4 game, or is it the 'combined DVD' version? :)o)

Yes, it has some nasty scratches.

But it works fine weithout probleme ´til this scene.
Reloading of my savegame didn´t help. ( believe me, i reloaded maybe 50 times while trying the different video plugins with different settings. oO

I´ve got ePSXe 1.6, I´ll try 1.7 now.

Another idea:
Download psxmc (.str, .xa player). Analyze your FF9 CD4 disc and test that movie. (You may need to set your CD drive manually in that program)

This should tell us if that section survived outside of epsxe.

Different drives (even same models) can read psx discs with some minor differences. Which is why we're suggesting the psxmc test to be confident.

In the case it does work, my last idea would be to d/l someone else's endgame save and try it (save game corruption problem?)
