Faster FF9 Please???

Could someone help me with boosting my fps for FF9 during the battle sequences? The MDECs run at a fair 50-60 fps and so does a lot of things, but as soon as the battles start the music slows down and while in battle it'd be 30-40 fps! With slower music to boot! So, could someone help me speed up the battles?

Um... I'm using the newest Lewpy and Iori's 1.471 for sound. Um... System Specs: PII-266, 256 mb Ram, Monster 3D (Old, old), and I don'tknow what else is relavent...

I scoured through dozens of threads and used what I thought was the best settings for Lewpy and Iori based on everyone. And I"m still going so slow... Help me please...

I'm afraid you can't speed up your game. The slowdowns before battles are due to the Framebuffer Effects. They need a VERY powerful computer and video card, so I'm sorry to tell you that these parts of the game will not be fast.(Obs: Set Offscreen Drawing to a lower level like basic and framebuffer access to "write")
or set both of them to disabled

by turning these options off you get a hack faster gameplay.... but only with crap visual effects... black screen before entering a battle instead of the blur effect, etc.

oh... wait... u got a PII 266???
hmm... i dun kno... i got a amd 550 n' still struggle for slowdowns in FFIX
I use Null's 1.34 SPU plugin.
It's faster and have perfect sound.
for real???

i better go check it out then
People say that Null's is quite good with FF games, but it's very old and lack a lot of features(save states, for instance)
I am running a celery 566 and 384MB RAM with no 3d card,
Pete's software plugin
Null2's SPU

I just default to Pete's "Fast" settings and change off screen drawing to extended.

I usually get 55 fps during the battle sequences

afaik there is no offscreen drawing on pete's soft plugins
You are indeed correct, Pete's DX6 D3D has the off screen drawing, I use the d3d for FFVII and the soft driver for FFVIII, FFIX, and the anthologies/chronicles remakes.

I just hope that Dragon Warrior VII is playable :)
All of Pete's hardware accelerated plug-ins have offscreen drawing, just to clarify things.
