5GB HD space1?! damn...(at least there's still Cd-rom support

one thing that bothers me is that the requirements stated that

You don't have to worry about your video card not being on the list; if it runs on DX 8.1 hardware, it'll run on your card ;). That was just an oversight on their part. It's nice that there's a DVD version of the game, I'm sick of having to deal with 4-5 CDs with recent games.
heheh, i was just joking :p, i know it would be okay since the Multiplayer beta worked fine on me, also, the GeForce 4 Ti is just a DX8 card isnt it? (it lacks PS 1.4)
I wonder what is scarier, the game or the internet activation?
scary is playing this one 640x480 with pixel doubling on a fx 5200 .
Im still hoping i get picked for the second MP beta xD http://learn.whatisfear.com/
F.E.A.R looks interesting. Considering, the lack of new single-player FPS the past few months this summer. HL-2 and Doom3 hit and it's like we hit a slump. The graphics do look great and very Ringu meets Silent Hill series. I just fear for it's gameplay.

I played the original MP beta. Now, Beta and MP should never be a good way to measure gameplay, yet I was disappointed. At the time the weapons were rough around the edges. There seemed to be a strange hit detection in place.

I'm hoping that things were tweaked more for the release and 2nd mp beta. I just don't want this to become another mindless FPS.
Can't wait.
wow r the requirments high or what , the highest i've ever seen
thank god i bought an 9600 so i can play the game though i hope the game
doesnt scare me like doom3 cuz i really wanna finish it
i was able to get invited in the 2nd MP beta, however, during installation, there's a feature error occured, happens too to others...
hopefully i can run that beast of a game :hdbash:

I believe the GeForce 3 and Radeon 8500 are DX8 parts while the 4 Ti is DX8.1, although I'm not 100% certain.
Damn scary requirements.
What do ppl with a 3 year old pc do ?
I mean it'l run but i guess look like cr*p so only good gameplay will save this case.
And does anybody know about the online requirement? Activation isn't fun =\

p.s
n_w95482 i love your high end secondary PC
such great cpu power and ram with such a GFX card. damn beautiful :]

cheers

I only put it in there for testing :p. So far I've run 3DMark 2001 and Halo on it and I'll be attempting to run Far Cry on it in a few minutes :p.

If I have a decent amount of free time this week, I may try out the demo :).

just re confirmed, the GeForce 3 and GeForce 4Ti series are just DX8 cards, the GF4Ti only had added features and power in it, but its still DX8(PS 1.1/1.3), the radeon 8500 on the other hand is full DX8.1 compliant(PS 1.1-1.4)...

if a geforce 4 ti can run the game why cant a fx 5700,5800 or radeon 9550 run it ??i mean the features r there t&l and shaders up to 2.0 could it be the memor core clock that counts????? if so over cloacking can save the day right??

scare???? *snicker*

I would of gave you a good deal on my Radeon 9600....I was going to sell it in a month anyways....but oh well ^^
actually, all Radeon 95xx series and above/FX 5200 and above can run it, just dont expect the FX series to run it on DX9 mode, since it will be dog slow (FX cards are weak in PS2.0), might wanna also run it on 320x240 mode via pixel dobling :)
ive tested the MP beta on a radeon 9600 256MB and 128MB and they ran fine on low-medium settings @ 800x600 DX9 mode with no pixel doubling, the FX5700LE run okay on the lowest settings DX8 mode and pixel doubling on (320x240).
but then again thats the MP beta, dubbo what optimisation they did in the upcomin demo...
oO the demo was suposed to be available by now but theres nothing there :(
