No sir, I don't like it.
The FEAR 2 Demo is working fine here on my antiquated hardware. The problem seems to be with specific hardware/driver combinations. I'm sure the Monolith team will have this figured out before the game actually gets released.I wonder if this will be another Grand Theft Auto 4 type scenario?
When I tried the Steam and 2 other downloads, they crash at the same point.
They load up to the game menu and when you select play game it loads 1/2 ways and then crashes. It seems nobody has tracked down the reason why some gamers can't play the game beyond a Sound Card and video issue.
It's pissed me off, I've tried everything including uninstalling and reinstalling my sound card drivers. I hope this doesn't happen with other games like Batman: Arkham Asylum. The weird thing is Windows reports my sound card as fully functional and that there are no problems with it.
A few years ago, releasing game demos before the actual release was the norm. Nowadays, you're lucky to get one at all. Part of why releasing a demo is so important is that it allows the developers to squash more bugs before the game's actual release. (Maybe GTA4 should have had a demo. *cough*)
