I am new to Emulators so I'm hoping I can get some help here.

I installed and configured PCSX2 on my PC, however when I try to run anything I comes back with a "Cannot find BIOS" messege (not worded exactly like that). I looked through the FAQs and couldn't find anything about this.

Can anyone help?

On another note, is there any way to configure the controls for the analog sticks? I got all the buttons figured out but there seems to be no way to ajust analog settings.

You need to dump the BIOS file from your PS2 in order to use this emulator. You can find the guide here.;)

oO

........ Wow that guide is confusing, at least, for those of us who don't know computer code and only understand 10% of what that thread said.... So much for plug and play software ehh? :???:

What I need is a "PS2 BIOS for Dummies" guide.

Just a thought, wouldn't it be more logical to make the PS2 Dump and the memory card thing and automatic part of PCSX2? For those of us who would just like to dowload, install, and go.

Heck untill I came to this forum, I had no idea how to get the thing to work (given the lack of instructions on the program). I'm shure not everyone who downloads this thing is going to visit this forum.

Lets start from the beginning.
1.Download the ps2 emulator.VERSION:0.8.1
2.Download the plugins.Download this plugin:GSsoft 0.9 (win32 / 64 | Linux / 64) [252 KB] (NOTE:this plugin is giving better graphic but ps2
emulator will work more slow with him.RECOMMENDED:no).
Download this plugin:GSdx 0.8 (win32) [198 KB] (NOTE:eek:n this one graphic is
not so good like on 0.9 but ps2 emulator will work much faster with it.
RECOMMENDED:yes).
Download this plugin:p.E.Op.S. SPU2 1.3 (win32) [28 KB] (NOTE:this is
important plugin if you want to hear a sounds in the game.RECOMMENDED:yes.You wont hear the sounds in all games)!
3.After you downloaded these plugins,extract the 0.8.1 ps2 emulator.
After you extracted it you should get folder named PCSX2-0.8.1.
4.Go in that folder. There you should see 2 important folders. One of them
is named BIOS and second one is named PLUGIN.Now all those plugins which
you have downloaded extract. After you extracted them, put them all in that
PLUGIN folder.(NOTE:do not delete those plugins which you already had in that PLUGIN folder).
5.Dump all neccessary bioses!
After you have dumped them, put them all in that BIOS folder.
6.After that turn OFF everything then again go in folder PCSX2-0.8.1
then go on application,(its blue color and white number 2),which is named
PCSX2.EXE
7.Turn ON that application then go on CONFIGURE.After that go on SET
PLUGINS DIRECTORY.Set those plugins where you put them in PLUGIN folder.
After that go on SET BIOS DIRECTORY.Set those bioses where you put them
in BIOS folder. After that go on OK.After that turn OFF the application, then
turn ON her again.Go on CONFIGURE then go on GRAPHIC.Put GSdx9 0.8
plugin. After that go on FIRST CONTROLLER.Make the options in the controls how you want. After that go on CDVDROM.Put P.E.Op.S. CDVD DRIVER 1.2
Configure it:-INTERFACE:W2K/XP-IOCTL SCSI COMMANDS.
-DRIVE:[1:0:0] DRIVE D.
-CACHING MODE:READ AHEAD-fast,reads more sectors at once.
-Put:USE ADDITIONAL 4 MBYTE DATA CACHE.
After that go on OK.After that go on SOUND.Put P.E.Op.S. SPU2 DSOUND DRIVER 1.3
Configure it:-MODE: 2: USE SPUasync (must be supported by the emu).
-VOLUME: 3: loudest.
-REVERB: 1: SPU2 reverb (may be buggy, not tested yet).
-INTERPOLATION: 2: GAUSSIAN INTERPOLATION (GOOD QUALITY).
-Put:ENABLE XA PLAYING.
-Put:CHANGE XA SPEED,if it is played too fast (MORE CPU POWER
NEEDED).
8.After that go on OK and again OK.Turn OFF the application.Put CD in your
CD-ROM,(on that CD it must be a playstation 2 game),then again turn ON
the application, then go on FILE and after that go on RUN CD.

And atlast this is the end.The game should work, but I dont guaranty it will.
ENJOY!!!:D

My problem isn't setting up the emulator, my problems are all related to the BIOS and how to get it from my PS2 to my PC.

I have a question though, I noticed that on the BIOS guide it said something about putting something on my memory card in order to get the BIOS, my question is:

1. does my memory card have to be blank? If not how much space will this use?

2. is this going to be permanent or can I remove it from my memory card when I'm done?
