epsxe/ssspsx speed query

2019 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  cloudsBro
today i tried to play wwf smackdown2 with epsxe with a petes soft driver 1.17. but after u select ur wrestlers and the fight begins, there is a substantial slowdown . i tried the same gpu settings with ssspsx 0.0.24 and it produced a faster, near perfect speed when fighting. can anyone tell me as to why this might be occuring. let me just mention that i used the EXACT same settings with both emulators.

screenshots and setings?
Hmm..

as of version 0.24 SSSPSX had GTE optimized by MMX technologies so that some 3D games play faster.

Or

Maybe SSSPSX is less of a resource hog

The Geometry Transformation Engine (GTE) is the heart of all 3d
calculations on the psx. The GTE has specialised functions for perspective
transformations, light sourcing and the like, and is much faster than the
CPU on these operations. It is mounted as the second coprocessor and as
such has no physical address in the memory of the psx. All control is done
through special instructions.

good info here --> http://www.buginthemachine.com/downloads/psx/GTE.txt
