I had a friend run me through all the stuff and downloads and everything, but then i decided to use a game pad(gravis gamepad pro works great on friends), and when i go to configure the gamepad it says program has performed an illegal opperation and will be shut down. AND also now whenever I click run CDROM the screen acts like its gunna do it ( you know what i mean gets big and black and all) then all the sudden its back to my desktop and the program is closed out of. Also sometimes when i screw with the settings i can get it to start up and then everything on my comp goes jumbo size and it goes up into the top left corner of my desktop and gives me the illegal opperations thing again. I am running a Dell 833 if thats any help. Has anyone else had this problem or just me...:(

Here is what is going on.

The contiune option under the Run dialouge is for when you press the Esc key while you are playing a game. It allows you to resume emulation. *Save files has nothing to do with it, you must be talking about something else. You are probably trying to load a save state, that doesn't exist. You can make a save state by either pressing the F1 key in-game or by pressing the Esc and going to the Run dialouge, and choosing the save state option.

The Gamepad errors are probably related to:
1) early gravis drivers
2) or Not having DirectX8

in either case it is probably a good idea to check gravis's website for updated drivers for your gamepad. (Btw I have a gravis eXterminator and it works excellent with the latest drivers)

I hope this answers your questions.

No Elememnts 357, you are not dumb. You were simply unware of the existance of DX 8, some people don't know that it is out yet. liquid gave you a nudge in the proper direction. You were smart to come here and ask for help. That is what these boards and forums are for. Take care.
sincerely,

it's true though....
if you had asked me something about resolutions a few years ago I would have replied with something like "wtf? There are graphics on the screen, that's good?"
It's got nothing to do with dumb, but rather with your knowledge or experience with something. Don't ask me about programming in C, for example.
